  3. For all practical purposes that is a Zinsco Panel-----and could have any of the concerns associated with Zinsco panels
  4. Chris, There are some circuits (security, fire-prevention, computer related for example) that need to be locked on so that they can't be inadvertantly shut off. The breakers will still trip internally if they need to.
  5. sounds like the expansion relief valve is set too high----still odd that the TPRV wouldn't relieve the pressure before 160psi
  6. Scott, was there an expansion tank to go with the pressure reducing valve?
  7. Lights and receptacles are often placed on seperate circuits so that if the receptacle circuit is tripped you aren't left in the dark.

  14. I have seen tons of "stranded" #6 aluminum for ranges etc, but I have never seen solid conductor #6 before----in this case to the range. How would you report on this----2003 house.

  18. Gary, I think you are right about the bonding screw above the ground wire. If this is a remote distribution panel the whole set up is "messed-up"[:-yuck]
  19. The two ground/neutral bars are bonded together under the plastic covering that runs accross from bar to bar behind the main breaker. Bonding may be the non-green screw at the top of the left bar.

  21. Thanks Mike, That clears up what I thought were some inconsistencies in my interpretation. Amazing how much effect one little word can have. I think in the scenario where I had a big picture window over a little awning window at floor level, they would just put safety glazing in the whole unit rather than leave it out of the lower glass. And like you said it is a little "silly" and points to the code being a "minimum standard". Plus the window manufacturer most likely isn't going to try and guess where in the wall the window is going to get installed.
  22. "7.2. Bottom edge less than 18 inches (457 mm) above the floor." of 308.4 is on the "hazardous location list". Am I missing something here? I read this to mean that any glazing within 18" of the floor has to be safety glazing. As a builder, I know that whenever I had window installation that had fixed units over awning units that were at floor level, those awning units had to be safety glass.
  23. Anything within 18" of the floor should be safety glass----this requirement has been around for quite some time and was in 2000 and 2003 IRC
  24. I think it has to do with the "CL" continuous load. In a residential installation it would be hard to immagine drawing a combined continous load of more than 200amps. Most of these double 200amp (400amp) services that I see are more for the additional breaker spaces than for additional loads.
