tbird Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Hey y'all. I was at an inspection of a new home today and saw this(owner-builder). It's pretty obvious that a truss should never be cut. The seller argues that it is okay(says it is strong without it). I told him to get it in writing from the truss manufacturer and he hung up on me. Maybe I am a deal killer! What do you think? kurt Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 I think Mr. Builder needs to grow up & understand he's wrong.
Bill Kibbel Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 I'd piss him off some more and tell him to show that the trusses were designed for the bottom cords to support a furnace with an A/C coil.
Scottpat Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Is that HVAC/AC coil unit sitting above an emergency overflow pan? If not I bet he would love to hear about that also!
bandag Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Did you ever see a seller that admitted that there were things wrong with their house? Everything is always fine because "so and so" said it was.
ozofprev Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 Sometimes, the Hammurabi code makes sense (BTW, his grammar, not mine).id="maroon"> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If a builder build a house for some one, and does not construct it properly, and the house which he built fall in and kill its owner, then that builder shall be put to death. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If it kill the son of the owner the son of that builder shall be put to death. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If it kill a slave of the owner, then he shall pay slave for slave to the owner of the house. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If it ruin goods, he shall make compensation for all that has been ruined, and inasmuch as he did not construct properly this house which he built and it fell, he shall re-erect the house from his own means. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If a builder build a house for some one, even though he has not yet completed it; if then the walls seem toppling, the builder must make the walls solid from his own means. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by bandag Did you ever see a seller that admitted that there were things wrong with their house? chrisprickett Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Duct can't rest on flex gas line either.
gbrasseur Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 HVAC is often an after thought. Trusses should not be cut.
rjw Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 And how about 1. access and floor decking for service 2. cleanace between the flue and truss (looks ok, but ...?)
