I see this all of the time on manufactured homes. But in that case they are behind panels. In this case I am talking about a water heater in a closet with a regular door but not one that can be used for storage. sbrooten Posted May 25, 2007 Report Share Posted May 25, 2007 Chris, I don't think that any regs regarding protecting the electrical line would change because the appliance is located in a closet. As for being anchored, that is not a national requirement. It is generally (to my knowledge) only required in seismic areas and regs would be dependent on local rules. That means, unless it's getting its air from outside, it has to be installed in a space with a volume of not less than 2,000 cubic feet. OT - OF!!! M.
