My 2 day training session on EIFS 18 months ago by the AWCI repeatedly emphasized the importance of drainage planes on all EIFS installations. I'm not condoning the system, just saying that there's some applications where it doesn't belong, it requires an enormous amount of discipline to install it properly and the amount of maintenance it needs likely exceeds any other exterior finish in current use.
