  1. What about the toasted SEC on the right side?
  2. No way to bang in blocks without dismantling the house, and there's a lot of areas that aren't even accessible. I'm not getting involved. House isn't getting bought. I was asking mainly out of curiosity. I'd never seen one this bad before and wondered how one might go about "fixing" it.
  3. Had one this AM lacking the blocks. Lottsa squashing going on. 2000 build date....heart of the lunacy. There's no way out of this, right? Any repair options at all? Click to Enlarge 51.8 KB
  4. Register and log in. Welcome to TIJ.
  5. I'm not sure I'd even bring it up.
  6. Maybe, but I doubt he'd care as long as you credit him.
  7. Mount a Rilem tube over the intersection of the head and bed joints, and see how much water flows in. I'll bet a lot.
  8. I checked it out some more. Internal storage. It's got some nice features. Not insignificantly, it's got a 45deg wide angle lens. Wide angle is highly desirable. Bernhardt made this observation years ago and I've found it to be prescient and absolutely true. I could see this thing being extremely handy and useful for the price point.
  9. I suspect it would be fine for a lot of HI work. The resolution demands for this thing that we do are possibly a little overblown. I say possibly, because I know if I say so definitively, I would get hooted down by a chorus of hi rez advocates. A primary argument for IR is other folks have IR so I better get IR because other guys have IR. This would get one into the game for less than a smartphone nowadays. My main IR use is figuring out aspects of hydronic heating (steam traps!), insulation/energy (mainly to show people what I already know, there's nothing in there), and shower pans (yes, it does leak, see?). I don't use it for a lot of the stuff I thought I would use it for. After that, building & science knowledge is more informative than IR imho. [:-paperba
  10. Yes. It cost a lot of money to develop your software. A lot. Software development is amazingly time consuming.
  11. I knew they made the baseray baseboard types, but didn't know about the others. I don't have to be sad anymore. Thanks. And, I need an odd size for my kitchen, now I know where to get it.
  12. This sounds wrong, but I don't really want to show up at the top of everyone's search. At least, not yet. I'm busy enough. For the stuff I want them to find, so far, they've been finding it.
  13. OK, thanks. Since i don't know how to do any of that, I'll deal with the fall out. I'm building a new site anyway where I will know how to do that stuff.
  14. I'm such a complete dweeb....I don't know what any of this means or portends.
  15. OK, I need an update. I thought NEC said total 42 circuit/breakers in a panel. Now it's unlimited?
  16. Yeah. Exactly. Rodents. I was pointing out all these trails and burrows, and the pest guy was saying that's normal and it isn't rodents. I had to double check to see if I was nuts.
  17. Look at the insulation. Kinda bumpy and uneven in a pattern very familiar to me. What's it mean to you folks? I have a disagreement with a service vendor about what it means. Click to Enlarge 37.84 KB Click to Enlarge 47 KB
  18. I'm always sad when I find freeze destroyed radiators. They don't make 'em anymore. We're working off a finite supply.
  19. What am I looking at?
  20. 6' around here.
  21. Kinda what I thought. Another "solution".
  22. I'm going to cut and paste that and send it to my client. What's it mean? When he asks, I want to be able to tell him. Kidding aside, I think I get it. I'm going to let the electricians figure it out though.
  23. Mr. O's broken through to the other side....through the looking glass...he's found the worm hole...but he doesn't fit...time for a new diet...must...pass...thru............wormhole.....
  24. There's a mix of breakers, yes.
  25. Yeah, exactly. It only had a tab at a couple places.
