  1. Dishwasher was in the way.
  2. I use mittens when snowboarding. I find my hands stay warmer when they are in "one" pocket. I bet they make mittens with flip tops so you can take a pic when needed.
  3. I installed one in my garage this past summer (el cheapo unit from Amazon) and my instructions did not call for a disconnect inside, nor did I install one. All low voltage from the outside unit control panel. 3 maybe 4 wires if I recall correctly.
  4. I've installed lots of tile floors. More than I care to remember, and I've used 1/4 Hardi on all of them with no failures. Put a screw every 6" in the grid and it works. The last couple I did I was tempted to use the Ditra, but was in a rust and didn't have time to make a mistake and be forced to back up. Check the floor for any bad dips and humps. Be sure to float those out before installing your backer. Those wood grain tiles are long and skinny, and very unforgiving when a dip shows up. You try to span a low spot and the tiles will break.
  5. Under a bath area in a pantry closet. No sound. Anyone have a clue? Click to Enlarge 13.58 KB
  6. Does the igniter glow at all?
  7. Yup, termites.
  8. Same. The switch lasted, but my thread stripped out from taking the tailcap off so many times. Mailed the light back to Olight in Cali, two weeks later they sent me a whole new light kit.
  9. New construction, spec builder, missing flashing, but why would they mount a 5/4 board first, then put the 2x ledger on top of it? Click to Enlarge 37.72 KB
  10. I was looking at this one last week, but I really don't have a clue what makes a good one. http://www.amazon.com/Leviton-51120-1-P ... B00081K55Q
  11. That looks like her Bill. Thanks.
  12. I know you can get these things in some strange formats, but this looks like it was site cut. About a 12 ft run. All in the same spot. Biggie? Click to Enlarge 47.6 KB
  13. The steel lentil on the opposite side has cracked/shifted, the lentil on the side with the crack has cracked Click to Enlarge 21.75 KB There is no lintel there. That is the soffit, or a piece of wood trim, covered in aluminum coil. A lintel supports masonry over an opening. It was a steel lintel, it was not the soffit or a piece of wood trim covered in aluminum, I did feel the material and it was definitely steel . Sure looks like a soffit and a freeze board to me.
  14. Dunno. I didn't touch it. The house had hot water though. Bypass for the HP feature perhaps. I was at the end of a 6 hour inspection that was not going well by the time I got to it. Seeing a nearly 30 yr old water heater was enough.
  15. It's just an old engineer having fun playing with his house. The model number is SSV 82 HP4. Says on the data label it's a Heat Pump Water Heater. Click to Enlarge 30.55 KB
  16. Looks to be. I was hoping one of you find gents could say you've seen one before. The story I got was the owner used to be some suit for a plumbing supply house. Might me some classified stuff from back in the day!
  17. Ever seen one of these? Install date was 1987. Looks like an old heat pump Water heater. Didn't know they went back that far. Prototype model perhaps? Click to Enlarge 74.18 KB
  18. They are all about the same. You'll be on a shared server so it really doesn't matter much. I currently use HostGator. In fact most of the big players are all owned by the same corp. EIG - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endurance_ ... onal_Group
  19. Hey Charlie, It says on your website you are a Level III certified at some training or another with a thermal camera. What does that level of training consist of?
  20. Hey man, glad you are OK. But what the hell were you doing on that shot roof in the first place? Ray Charles can see that thing is toast.
  21. That's a 68 page document. I sure hope that the installation instructions that are provided with the products are a lot less tortuous. That was one the things that blew me away. I wasn't able to find a install guide for the stuff the builder used on the lawsuit house. I called the manufacture and was told they do not offer a guide, but recommend using the one Mark posted.
  22. As soon as I get the all clear from my guys attorney, I plan on posting lots of good info with pics for you guys. 3 yr old house 100k of damage from lick and stick stuff. It was nasty. My guy knew he had a issue when the curtain rod fell off the wall from the drywall being too soft to hold it anymore.
  23. I've always thought the appraisal process was a sham. On the homes I've bought the appraisal always come back at $500.00 more than contract. Wonder if that is b/c they have the contract with them. Makes it easy to hit that target number when you know the number.
  24. Just to be safe I would run a 10 gauge wires (prob overkill) fused at the battery to the rear hatch, and install my relays back there. I may not be understanding, but if there is a factory harness at the read of the vehicle for a simple old trailer hookup (not the round kind for use with a booster) then there is no reason it shouldn't be strong enough. If it has no power, triple check the factory relay location. I bet it's missing. My 07 truck came with a relay in the glove box to install when I needed to use the trailer hookup.
