The only thing that was using 3 phase at this time was one of the AC units. Here are some of the ways they made changes. This is at the newer Heat pump unit which did not work. Image Insert: 81.84 KB Here is how they done it in the panel. Image Insert: 80.83 KB

I have done 3 phase before but I have never seen panels like this in a home. Image Insert: 91.91 KB Image Insert: 117.73 KB Image Insert: 85.57 KB I have no question about them; I put them up for others to see.

Well it looks like it is going to be Alabama and Florida playing for the SEC Championship. If both teams can keep from losing a game before then I believe the winner will be playing for the National Championship game. Heck, they could be #1 and #2 when they play.

Roofs don't make the "what's important list"
Phillip replied to Chad Fabry's topic in News Around The Net
There are a lot of important things to think about around a house. To me one of them is keeping the roof from leaking and causing damage. I agree that personal safety is top of the list. That article is very hard to read and understand. -
Hi Tom, Welcome to IJ. Hang around and post a little

This is a email from the president of our local ASHI chapter about the Meth he found. I have adopted a strip of ground beside our street leading into the subdivision from highway 31. When I get tired of seeing the discarded trash I will take a few minutes and go clean it up. I imagine folks driving into the neighborhood as a first impression will say "what a trashy neighborhood". On Thursday around 3:00PM I was doing my clean-up routine and discovered a trash bag that was laying at the edge of the woods (had not been there long) and decided to open it up in the chance there might be some envelopes or something identifying where it came from. Well....the chemical smell hit me and almost knocked me down. Upon further digging I found a liter pop bottle with some crusty looking brown substance inside. I called the Hartselle police and they sent out a patrol officer. I met him at the site. He started pulling out various bags that contained rock salt, straws, lithium from batteries and other unidentifiable contents and he said it was a full blown "shake and bake" meth lab. He advised me to stand back away from the area as the bag contents were still fresh and could burn or explode at any time. I heeded his advice. Soon another patrol officer showed up and they called the Morgan County Hazardous Response Unit which is a large truck with various hazardous investigative equipment inside. They started taking photos of the bag contents then they declared the area a hazardous waste dump and called a hazardous waste clean-up unit to come out. At about 6:30PM this clean-up crew arrived and secured the area. At about 7:00PM all of the units were pulling out and leaving the scene. This is a nice and quiet neighborhood and during the time that the authorities were on scene, residents were coming home from work or where ever and slowing down to take a look with confused expressions on their faces. A couple of neighbors actually stopped to talk with me and were shocked to find out what it was all about. I personally hoped that whoever dumped this stuff happened to drive in and see what was going on and be encouraged to dump their crap somewhere else. I frequently see children riding bikes and scooters along the street and can imagine their curiosity finding them digging in such a bag of contents and getting poisoned or burned. I feel like my vigilance may have prevented this. I don't care what people do with their own lives but they can dump this stuff elsewhere for all I care and we won't have to worry about it in our part neighborhood. There is no way of knowing whether this meth lab came from our neighborhood or they are coming from another area and dumping it but it just goes to show you that no place is immune from this activity. Just thought you guys might be interested to hear my story. Wes Carlisle CARLISLE HOME INSPECTIONS 400 CRESCENT DR SW HARTSELLE, AL 35640 I know I could stand some more traing on it.

This is what I use on my report when I have aluminum wiring. It is from Mark Cramer. I also recommend that they have an electrical that knows about this type wire check the connection and repair as needed. Solid strand aluminum wiring is present in the home. This wiring was installed in homes between 1965 and 1973 after which it was discovered that it is a potential fire hazard. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has had research conducted that has demonstrated that homes with this old style aluminum wiring (pre-1972) are 55 times more likely to have one or more connections reach fire hazard conditions than homes wired with copper. The hazard occurs at connections, such as at receptacles, switches, and at major appliance connections. Corrosion of the metals in the connection, particularly the wire itself, causes increased resistance to the flow of electricity that causes over heating. Newer aluminum alloys have fewer problems. Modern standards require the use of newer, safer devices (Receptacles, switches, and circuit breakers, etc.) labeled ALR rather than the older AL devices used here. The modern devices reduce the risk. Some experts feel that even these devices do not completely eliminate the hazards. We recommend you obtain the booklet "Aluminum Wiring in the Home" from the CPSC at 1-800-638-2772 or on the web at http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/516.pdf

I was hoping that LSU would win so when they played Alabama they would be a team that Alabama beats that us undefeated and help Alabama to get the top spot. I don't think Alabama will be # 1 this week. I haven't seen the polls yet. It is being a wild year and it would not surprise me if we have another year where at the end of the year the #1 team has a lost. just let it be a team from the SEC.

Is that WJ or Bill L?

That will change Saturday. Alabama barely got by Kentucky. Our kicker was off. They better be ready for old Miss. Auburn needs an offense. Any one know where they can get one. I see Alabama and Vandy playing for the SEC championship.

I try to tell where the item is at that needs to be repaired. There are times like when I find a lot of splices in the attic I will just say the attic has splices that need to be installed in junction boxes and show a photo of one.

In a class the other day on report writing the teacher said when you write something up like a miswired receptacle you should report the general area where it is, not where it is at. The reason why was that you wanted the electrician to do the work and he would check on the receptacle and find the one that needed repair. If you told where it was, you were giving the homeowner permission to do the repair. I believe if the homeowner does the repair he is not going to check for other receptacles and I don't believe just telling a general area is going to stop some homeowner from doing the repairs What do you think?

I guess I miss under stood what you are talking about. It sounds like you are talking about the duct line that installed inside of the duct. It black on the top and fibers under the bottom and most of the time it is glued to the metal ductwork along with a few insulation nails to hold it in place.

I find no felt on half of the I see and most of them have no flashing where the soffit runs down on them at the corners.

So, in your world, the HVAC guys don't glue sound-deadening panels to the interior of the air plenums? ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike When I was installing ductwork; we only installed the sound dampers in commercial jobs. (schools and hospitals) Not in most homes. I have panned out a few joist in my time. As I see it any opening in the return that letting air in that not filtered needs to be sealed so the coil will not get stopped up from the items getting in.

I agree with Bill It is a squirrel.

It would be nice to see Vandy playing for the SEC championship. The way they have been playing they could. We will see how good they are this weekend playing Auburn or how bad Auburn is.

Well Alabama is hanging in there. They started out blowing Georgia away and almost let them catch up. But hung in to win. Old Miss pull of a good one. For some reason I like to see Florida get beat. I wished that Mississippi State would have beat LSU. Oklahoma is going to be very hard to beat.
