Neal Lewis Posted May 17, 2011 Report Share Posted May 17, 2011 This water heater is one year old and was fully approved by the Woodcliff Lake NJ building dept, partially blind inspector. This is what the owner's manual says about the old style vent damper. "The use of vent dampers is not recommended by the manufacturer of this water heater". The exhaust doesn't have a proper pitch, most screws missing, rusted/pitted and not properly sealed at the chimney thimble.
