I've never seen stranded tin coated copper but then, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I have seen stranded aluminum in older houses from the 50's.

I see stranded tin-coated copper at least once a week these days.

In fact, let's see, it's Tuesday, and I've seen it in three houses so far this week.

Thank you for the information.

It is the first time I have seen this. I talked to some of the inspectors n my area and they had not seen either.

I could not get a good view of the ends so I could not tell.

There where other electrical problem so I recommend to have the electrician verify which one it was.
