jdoxakis
I installed the dishwasher 6 months ago. Between all the kids leaning on the door, the bracket that secured it to the countertop has broke, so the dishwasher moves freely in the space. It stopped working so I checked and the ground aluminum bare wire came loose from the screw and the set of black/tan wire are melted thru the cap. I am assuming it overheated since the ground came loose and was touching these wires. Not sure what to do from here. I usually do not fool with electrical but I had installed several before with no problem. The other set of black'white wires are fine. Inspectorjoe
Turn the breaker off and call an appliance dealer that has a good service department. This isn't a problem to diagnose on a message board.
Steven Hockstein
Turn the breaker off and call an appliance dealer that has a good service department. This isn't a problem to diagnose on a message board. Or take an inventory of all your property, verify that you have adequate insurance (home, health, and life), make sure nobody is in the house, and then mess with the wiring. blindrid
I'll bite as others won't here: I would guess that the problem is a loose connection - take wire nut off, re-strip and nut, connect ground. I would think the lack of ground did not cause any problems.
Jim Katen
Based on his description of the problem, my bet is that the original poster hasn't got a clue what he's doing. TIJ isn't here to help people kill themselves or burn down their houses. As such, this thread is locked.
