Ben H
A few years ago I was in Alpena MI (near the U.P.) around New Years. All the kids were playing on a frozen lake. This ol' boy just couldn't do it. I'm sure the ice was plenty thick enough, but I couldn't shake that feeling someone was about to disappear. Marc
They should make a model for a water hose, something a homeowner could keep handy. Marc
John Kogel
Marc, blow air into a garden hose and try it. I think the inflated fire hose is stiff enough to work, but a small hose maybe not. Great idea, and something every fire department can utilize. kurt
Anyone ever been hypothermic? Bad hypothermic? I have. Like that. In ice water. You go bad in a few minutes. Can't hang onto anything, can't think, can't function. Guys fiddling with devices on shore while someone's going bad is not the best way to do it. Same with drowning. Anyone seen someone drown? It's not like TV. It's real quiet and quick. Everything seems fine, calm, in control. Then, gone.
