Tom Breslawski
Why would the shingles be installed on the ridge like this? Click to Enlarge 57.96 KB
kurt
Because the roofer cheesed out on the last course of shingles on the right side. They scrunched the ridge shingles over in lieu of a shingle course. At least, that's what it looks like.
Chad Fabry
What Kurt said. They should have put last course installed on the left on the right instead. That said, it's ugly but probably works OK.
Tom Breslawski
Thanks. That's what I thought. I appreciate the feedback.
Marc
Maybe he didn't want the ridge shingles to extend off the bottom edge of the last course on the left. It would catch the wind/tear off more easily that way. Marc

However, after inspecting the installation practices on the rest of the roof, I'm convinced that Kurt & Chad's answer is correct. Thanks for the feedback.
