mjr6550
I visited the Cliveden house today. It is a historic house owned by the National Trust. The photo shows the carriage house. The tour guide was proud of the recently replaced wood shingle roof and the rebuilt cupolas. Anyone care to guess the cost for this work? Hope the link works-I was not able to post the photo. https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en&pb ... cQoioIfTAN

kurt
Did they replace all the inlaid gutters? Cost on that puppy is more about the copper than the cedar. I got no idea but $60k seems realistic. Maybe.
ghentjr
$125k
kurt
Clarify....just the coach house roof, or the entire place? If it's the entire place, more in line with Ghent.
Tom Raymond
I can't open the links. I am currently repairing a cedar roof, spot replacement of about a square of medium hand splits on 14/2 A frame. $2500. That makes $60 k about 24 square. Am I close? mjr6550
I was told that they spent $1,000,000. I have nothing to back that up, but I could not imagine that there could be any way it should cost that much.
kurt
If the inlaid gutters were shot and leaking (which they usually are) into the rafter tails and soffits, chimneys were rebuilt, and all sorts of other stuff...I still don't see how it could get to a million bucks. There's more to the story than just a roof replacement. Regardless, cool joint.
Jim Baird
Oh, I thought you meant the cost of the inspection work...we won't go there...but I hope you priced it right.
Jim Baird
Now that I looked at the pics I have to quote a friend's saying, ..."too much sugar for a dime."
inspector57
Must have been a government job. Just think how much the port-a-potty would cost using NASA spec seats would cost. [:-dunce]
