Plumbing vent stack thingy

It may be something to just close the two openings that were left after removing some plumbing fixture that was there before. But I can't think of a fixture that would be installed within an attic.

You might be close. . .

I think I might have an idea, now, after just finishing the report.  The house had a radon mitigation system installed, with the ventilation fan installed outside on the side of the house.  This might have been a previous, ass-backwards install of a radon fan using the plumbing stack as its vent pipe.
