Terence McCann
I tested a home where the final reading was 15.8. The home had a small basement with crawl spaces on either side. The crawl spaces had dirt floors. Question is what method would they use to mitigate the home? All the ones I have seen deal with a standard basement with a concrete floor, vent pipe under the floor etc.
Bain
I'm no expert, but around here they install a heavy vapor barrier on the crawlspace floor and then use construction adhesive to glue the plastic to the foundation walls and to seal the seams. I doubt the system is ever completely airtight, but with the fan running, negative pressure prevents the migration of radon into the living space of the house. Bill Kibbel
In addition to the plastic, described above by Bain, the piping from the radon mitigation system is usually extended under the plastic.
