Local here too. Plain old black and white, standard everything. I've never found any benefit to fancy business cards.

I've gotten 3-4 jobs out of referrals from the print shop guys.......

Hi, It's really nice to read your all comments here about the business card i think that this is one of the best way for offline marketing your business. I must recommend this idea for getting response from the local customers, here are some more ideas as like " Get a stamper from an office supply firm with your website URL and logo on it. Stamp all letters and envelopes when you send mail ". I have meet to many people who don't prefer to the offline marketing which is not good for your local business.

I went to solid plastic cards several years ago. They don't melt in my pocket, get dirty, or get dog-eared. I do all my own artwork and send the PDF file to a place in FL. Yes, they cost quite a bit more than cardboard but people are really impressed. I put my picture on the front and some thought I was just showing them my ID. I had a REA use one to open a locked door at one inspection.
