The interior bricks have efflorescence showing. The fireplace does have a heatilator. What would cause this on the interior brick? How was the mortar where the counter flashings are let into the stack? Were there a set of shoulders on that stack that might have loose/cracked caps? ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Robert Jones Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Share Posted March 26, 2010 Thanks guys, It looks to me like the crown and flashing were replaced when the roof was replaced, approx 5 yrs or so ago. I have added another pic to my original post. There was no water staining etc... to the interior ceiling. The damper was a rusted, which is not to uncommon for 26 yrs.
