  1. There is no winner or loser as this was an out of court agreement. Anyone putting a spin on it is doing just that. Anyone from a competing assoc will of course find it an excuse to throw rocks, much like the midget kicking a giant in the shins. Nothing has changed other than the name which happens in corporate mergers all the time.Nothing rightious hides in the shadows.
  2. When a guy comes right out and admits his company never should have covered the thing at that pitch,I say you are of the hook. He is the expert and you are the generalist. Therefore he should be the one accountable. Gets me mad to think Randy should have to suffer for any of this. Maybe we need a million inspector march. What would happen if we flooded the roofer with angry correspondence?
  3. Offer to refund the money on the condition the roofer provides a letter stating the roof issue you should have caught. Are roofers licensed where you are Randy?.My guess is he's full of s--t. Bet you could scare him into fixing it if you play your cards right.
  4. Steve not all agents are like the sellers was and if you are trying to make a go of it referals are important. Continue the open house idea and you will see who you are dealing with. Why let one sour apple spoil the bunch.
  5. Great going Steve, you must feel a real burst of confidence after that.
  6. These problems occur more with non-evasive meters I assume.
  7. Unfortunatly we will not be using the evaporation test, unless it is a very long inspection,so bring lunch.
  8. There is a rule as to how deep these ponds are allowed to go. I can not seem to recall the depth allowance however. It was something like half an inch but I am not certain.
  9. Test it after a party. I am sure a few of the guests will make good participents in your goal of further education.
  10. How do you know upstream?
  11. Good catch,as we did not even note the upside down breaker. I was wondering when super Katen would fly in to save the day. And son of a gun that bare ground does fold up into that knockout connector.
  12. Fritz I may be blind ,but I thought that was a 20 amp 220v line for the AC and a 30 amp 220v line for the dryer. So no neutral is required.
  13. Never considered copper gauge. Thanks for the link.
  14. Good answer. I do know some guys are looking for levels over 15% content in attics as a way to backup concerns over inadequate ventilation but was not sure how common of a practice this was,or how accurate an indication.
  15. And what kind of exam did you need for entry into whatever you do Justin. Take the test and come back with your score.
  16. Great minds think a like as I actually asked that very question on another board today. I was wondering about pipe sweat affecting readings in walls. Also was curious if most guys always take readings in the attic on rafters.
  17. Fritz you snuck in ahead of me but glad you did so I can ask what you mean by neutral in addition to ground on a 220 line.
  18. If that is a sub panel, why are ground and neutral tied in? They should be seprate. From what I can tell the box looks screwed to the neutral bar.
  19. I have that at my place here in Harwood heights Kurt, and there is no sign of a problem. 1957-same year I was born.It feeds the bar and bathroom in the basement.
  20. You have a fault somewhere and should have it looked at by a local guy in person. You do not want to take chances around water and electricity. Nobody on this forum will take a chance giving you the wrong advice on playing amateur Electrician. I hope.
  21. It got fuzzy with all the lawyer speak but as I mentioned yesterday,it is now INTERNACHI as in INTERNATIONAL.Here is my take on it. Image Insert: 65.19 KB
  22. Those little halogen trac lights are awfully popular. Now you have LED to go with it.
  23. Like I said earlier it depends on the area. I have spoken with a few people regarding the smoke bomb story and they laughed.
  24. I would recommend against it(BUT) I have found out through a water dept official that some municipalities allow it or tag an assessment fee. So some may make a big issue of it,but I am not aware of anyone ever being forced to reroute the plumbing in an older residence. May depend on your area?
  25. Straight from the top. You must now refer to it as per court settlement with NAHI as INTERNACHI
