  1. As an artist I learned how to dis-color copper overnight,as it is a chemical process. Try this if you want to turn copper that mint green color without the 10-20 year wait. Miracle Grow with just enough water to make it a past then apply or brush it on with a thinner solution.
  2. We can't all see it?
  3. Hey don't pull me down with you on that one buddy. What I said is true. And might I also add without need to bring up old TV series from the sixties.
  4. Never heard that one,but Bob there is only room for one of us with that name,so could you go back and touch that pipe while standing in water then get back to us in the name of science.
  5. Yes that is just oxidation. The cold may have more of a tendency to dis-color due to the fact its temperature will attract more condensation. Think of all the times you have gone into a basement and seen how it drips down on certain days.It is normally the cold pipes.
  6. Did not mention in my last post, but was thinking it,that the guy might be considering conversion as his reason for zone control.
  7. I hate GE everything.Cheap cheap cheap. I won't even go into the government contracts.
  8. There you go.All we gotta do is pool our money together, come up with some modern patterns and designs while manufacturing earlier stuff for the old timers and we go in business. Now for a name.Hmmmm.
  9. That's it ,I feel sorry for the poor bastard material and now feel I must go looking for an example that is pleasing to the eye. If I find it I will take a photo and put it right here.
  10. I was going to ask why use four halve size when they take up as much room as two regular sized breakers but you did state it was for two seperate circuits so that does explain it pretty clearly,Thank you.I have installed them back in ancient times and forgot all about the skinnies ,but early alzheimers will do that.
  11. Hi Chris..if you are talking regular cord like on an extention plug there is no way I know of that could be legal, unless it is a permenent whip with BX or Greenfield that have proper connections to the box.Other wise it needs a pronged end for plug in,which is common of garbage disposals which seem to be treated as appliances since they do pull out and can be considered as non-permenant. Of course I am sure someone will have a code for you to quote from the NEC bible.
  12. No wonder there is a market for the teddy cam.
  13. But with imagination could not someone come up with a variation in color and pattern,or is it all in the texture and material.
  14. This is out of my league. Can anyone explain for this dummy what a quad breaker is used in conjunction with.
  15. Six zones and 8,000sq feet.If that is living space sq footage they are a nice size and it is kinda nice of the landlord to give them individual control when he's footing the bill. All this despite the demon child living there whom thinks he is Picaso.

    How Hot?

I used to have mine at scaulding level so I would not run out of hot water as fast. A small tank will do that to ya.
  17. Ok..now what about actual opinion on the stuff. Fire hazard yes or no Better than vinyl yes or no Does it belong in the scrap pile of history or would a smart guy manufacture a simular product in the future? yes or no. After all I do still see it in good condition on a lot of homes in some areas. Maybe it just needs an update.
  18. It is interesting that the book would discuss the heresy only to disclaim it by calling it unwarranted. This was my original training Manuel.(insert joke here) Got to give them some credit though, since that is the only real printed info anyone has come up with as of yet.
  19. I am a little suprised that it is so hard to get since if you can get a hold of it you would make a ton of money.Kurt are you sure it was not Joseph Lumber.
  20. Ok I was right it was in the above mentioned book under siding materials. It is frowned upon by some insurance companies and lending institutions due to its combustability and the fact it denotes low quality construction to some.Insulbrick can be considered the forerunner to aluminum siding and is hard to repair since it is no longer made.It is however easy to cover . Essentials of Home Inspection by Carson Dunlop
  21. One hour.My g-d it takes me three just for a Condo and they end up dragging me out through force.Just can't imagine how you could cover half the componants in that time.
  22. Nothing wrong with it per say, however I was told that insurance company's sometimes insist it be removed. Not sure if I have any documentation though it may be in the Carson Dunlop Inspection reference book. And yes it is common all over chicago as Kurt said.Amazing that it holds up as well as it does.Maybe the backing would be key to better ashphalt tile roofing.
  23. Found a great link to porch construction guidlines under City of Chicago, that should be useful for all.
  24. Same here and was just about to say the same thing.
  25. Going over the photo again I just noticed they went to all that trouble with hiding the 110v but left both the Radio Shack broadband cable and the phone line laying loose on top of the carpet.
