  1. Hi ..Mark and welcome back. Must say I never saw anybody play football on someones roof up till now.
  2. Hope you don't do that when they are white.
  3. Hi Les ..I' m more interested in the fact you carry pay per click on your site. Heard they make you sign aggrement not to divulge what they give you, but could you give me a round about idea of how many views per day average would be needed to make taking on these ads worth anything.
  4. The land of Gar is truly linked to knowledge. I see more and more of this stuff. Might be a good idea to learn more and study these systems in order to be qualified. Personal level I think they look like what they are,but do have some interesting design possibility that may not have been utilized to take advantage of the material as of yet. Just like brick veneer it revolves around cost so I bet we see more and more of it. just wish they would keep it off street level where it gets banged up so easy.
  5. Every thing you say ,but tasting yech! Bet you left gum under desk for the next day.
  6. And now for Kurt's next trick he will use his ears to listen for water leaks. His xray vision is used for determine RF value in sealed drywall. Watch in amazement as he single handedly determines return temperature at the plenium using nothing but sense of touch. For an extra fee he will determine with in one month the precise date of failure on all systems and componants. Remember mold is his main concern so call him at 1-800-mold -lol
  7. Wow that goes beyond normal home inspection, however just curious how do they feed the stock tank.? Why worry about a filter for landscaping water non-potable.?
  8. John thanks for the tip Bill whats wrong with infared laser pointer guns.?
  9. Your probably right,but now I think of some scenario where a wire coat hanger shoots up into the junction box thru the junction box open knockout for the greenfield or bx. Wish I was not in a hurry but I was running trouble calls on a time limit yesterday and had no right to dig thru the womans clothing in the closet to see the method used for bringing in the conductor.The one good thing coming out of it was that the maintenance guy was outside so when I asked him if all the units were the same way he ended up telling me he was selling his house while asking for my card because he saw the sign on my truck. Hear that (captain).lol {and yes they are}
  10. Okay Mark here's the thing: At that first job I spoke of above, more than likely I may have been thinking this is just another toy and it gave me something to do or keep moving while thinking of the next step. Yeah...the shutoff was high and a little out of reach, but decided to scan any way. Man did that thing go off.You see it was a basement getting plenty of air and of course the double door or cellar entrance had been open for awhile. As far as soap goes, sure it works,(sometimes). One day working for Sears I had run a brand new 1/2" black pipe line across the basement then gave it the soap test.As always I had brushed my solution at every joint , union and shutoff valve. Well guess what. Hours later and 50 miles from my home I get a call how the whole basement smells like gas. I told my customer please call peoples Gas immediately. The next day my supr sends me back to fix whatever I screwed up. Well guess what: Turns out that the pipe I used was on recall for defects in the seams in the elbows. The customer wrote a letter thanking me for giving the number to call for emergency. So the answer is yes soap does work [to confirm] what that worthless sniffer will find,so please take it out and you might end up with your own thank you note.
  11. Mark I use a TIF 8800 and caught a propane leak with it on my very first job,so I concider it worth what I spent already. If you use your nose you must be part dog. Try and tell that to the people at the Gas company then tell me their reaction . Some people use a 9 part water 1 part soap mix. When I was younger I would actually and foolishly use a lighter as since the gas is under light pressure the flame would just shoot out.Got cured of that habit when while trying to replace for safety reasons a brass flex behind a kitchen stove and had forgot to blow out the pilot lights.Pooof! singed hair all over what was exposed. The stupid thing was so deteriorated that it had already been leaking with out me knowing or smelling. Yes I would do these without turning off the gas so I would not need to go relighting pilots around the house. It was easy to throw a piece of moretite on the opening since Gas pressure is so light.Moral is not to relie souly on your nose The day you have a cold is the one that gets you in trouble.Oh and anyone who dares try this (don't) but remember to check all the pilots as you are creating negative pressure and it can take a split second to knock out the pilots in other areas.
  12. Subject to damage is a good start.
  13. Way to go Mike. One more running for the door.
  14. Something about so much going on around 220 just doesn't sit right, sure I realize the water is maybe a slight scalding hazard on the hot pipe, But my issue is the voltage connection that could loosen with constant banging of storage items.Probably safe but it sent my spidey sense tingling when I saw it. Too much coffee I guess.
  15. Everything above.PDF is the way we do it. Newbies gotta stick together.Just download this sucker and go to town. http://www.software995.com/
  16. Looked at a thread from feb 13th titled closet mechanical room no drywall,FDQ25 however it leaves me wondering about what I saw today. While setting up a phone system I happened to need access to a utility closet in order to search for broadband splitters. The lady of the house led me to the closet immediatly in front of the main entry door to her unit. When she opened the door the first thing seen was a regular closet full of clothing and surrounding A electric water tank. Com'on there is something so wrong about it yet I have no idea what the clearance requirments are on this.Anybody Know what they are?
  17. Hi frank.....What is the extension cord hanging from the joists all about.? That intrigues me more than the lovely odor emanating from the cast iron. Wonder also what that hole strap was doing there?
  18. Two people is certainly an advantage. Just not looking for a fifty percent pay cut. Some where on this site is Rosie the riveter Home inspections maybe I should check and see if she is single, as long as I can deal with the biceps.
  19. Still had a picture which is what made me realize that when taken, you see results on the mini LCD and know it was recorded. With a voice unit well there is not any way of finding out till it is critical . I believe the buttons depressed in my pocket.
  20. Ummm so you never experienced what happened to me,and don't you feel a little unatural talking to the thing in front of the people that are present.I mean it does throw you out of sink with what ever conversation is going on at the time. Please don't tell me you play it back .
  21. Let me get this straight Jim. I can play a practicle joke and make my own crazy joy buzzer with a three hole recepticle that lacks EGC run a wire from the recepicle box to my victim then press my test button on the handy dandy traffic light tester for a barrel of laughs?
  22. Don't laugh to hard one of those links is actualy not bad reading.http://www.moldinspector.com/ The pictures are pretty gross.
  23. What are those doubles feeding? From my view those are some heavy duty gauge conductors, leading me to wonder if it is drawing enough to over heat possibly defective breakers that should be tripping. Just conjecture.
  24. That is exacly my line of thinking. With yellow pages it was let your fingers do the walkin Now it is let your pictures do the talkin. Just wish somebody at Best Buy had heard of that panosonic camera. That seems like a good tool. Just bring two cameras Kurt . One can be the dirt camera.
  25. I bought two voice recorders, one for a voice recognition program.NEVER AGAIN will this device be used.PICS PICS and more PICS is the way to go.All it took was getting home to find ...............................................instead of serial the numbers, to convince me.If you take a close up how can you not remember what it is for.How long does it take to write down the numbers compared to 3 hours inspection time. Not much.
