  2. You guys must read minds since I was looking at this yesterday afternoon. Download Attachment: tijsec.jpg 48.49 KB
  3. Hi Kurt I was informed that louver doors were actualy only calculated as twenty-five percent efficient when closed of course. So anyway I just wanted to see if this might cause problems in such a tight space. Hi Frank , that is what I was looking for as HVAC might be my weakest area ,just need to find that golden site with lots of pictures for my primitive mind Thanks for the help to both. Back to my report, and what a time for writers block.
  4. Thanks Jesse trying to watch Idol as I type . Yes it had Louver doors but it was mentioned to me that is not always enough so was wondering how to calculate amount of air supply needed(which in my case the eighties was enough)couldn't resist that one.
  5. Did first condo today and was just wondering if anybody could give me info on the best way calculate whether or not there is enough combustion air for an hvac unit in a utility closet. In this one case it was 75,000 btu mid efficiency installed in a five by six space.
  6. Heck with all of that sqeezing a few xtra feet stuff. Thats why I carry a 28 foot with hooks.
  7. HI Mike jumping in a little late now that the TIJ electrical guru has figured it out. My thinking actually was to pull a fourth wire and yes you maybe right about the difficulty of pulling it through depending on the gauge wire and diameter of conduit.Guess thats why they make the wire lube.Personaly I used to just yank it all out tying it to the old stuff , half the time. Because in the city the old covering would deteriorate soon as you touched it.
  8. That must be why conduit is better than NMC.Knew there had to be a reason
  9. Is it the fuzzy picture or are a couple of those grounds running past the bar?.
  10. Hi Mitchell pretty sure from the picture that is oxidation. Now if you want to freak somebody out, just spread some wet (miracle grow) on your friends copper pipes when he is not looking then go back the next day so you can watch him freaking out over his pipes oxidizing. Just a little trick I learned for over night antiquing of my art. Darn... 4 days late.
  11. You guys are way to picky,as that is one of the best mop bucket fill stations ever built. All it needs is some grout cleaning and sealant.cool.
  12. I keep my toshiba laptop tethered to a 27 inch LCD TV screen and 1024x768 where the new look fills out perfect with colors very relaxing but sharp.Perfect for the Irish. The slate tone is just what the green needs.
  13. Just paid for ad in fsbo minutes ago.I was inspired by this thread. Hey does this site have a new look?
  14. Kurt you are obviously a person who knows much about the business and well educated. This is the problem most of us have in that we forget things we take for granted as a given are not common knowledge to most people.Look at it this way Kurt. How many times have you walked into a place, unscrewed the aerator off a faucet to get rid of the rust and had the resident declare you a genius.Face it most people can"t use a screw driver. Now comes a home owner blue collar with no skills in communication other than apologizing to his boss for being late to work. Maybe he struggled the last 20 or thirty years to make those mortgage payments. Now tell me how he going to have even an inkling of where to go or what to do on his own. Just like lawyers agents are provided fees based on knowledge. So here is an idea, what if you start a business helping these people sell on there own and what will you charge? Heck I personally would pay you for your knowledge in getting inspections.
  15. Thinks I will try Putin Bay on lake Erie first.
  16. Guess they won"t be looking for" Girls Gone Wild "on that island.
  17. Must be before my time.Who is JJ Srang.
  18. Damn!....You just got me excited. You must be in the wrong business.
  19. Cool....But how do you market to FSBO?
  20. Hi Bruce....Welcome to the cranky old mans club, and if you don"t believe me just follow the cob webs to our photos. When all is said and done just remember this. Every thing you do is on record. Every thing you say might be remembered. Every thing you wish to sell is you. So do not sell your service cheap just to get a jump start, or you hurt yourself and every one else in this business.Your success will be based on your knowledge in the long run.Personally I thought this would be a quick kill at the beginning and grew to realize it is a long romance. This is a profession you must fall in love with or you will quickly fade away. I am a newbie myself but have learned this much already.
  21. So if Chicago passes a law allowing this NMC or extension cord on steroids, just how much money is a poor family going to save on their $400,000 house. Of course if a law was passed allowing this stuff nobody in town would run out to Home Depot and start installing it on their own would they. No not in Chicago where we all obey the law. One thing I have learned from those in local 134 is that conduit will help contain a fire. Please if I have been given disinformation somebody inform me. Personally I feel the last thing we need to do is to encourage DIY of electricity.
  22. Looks like oxidation off the copper line to me.Is that what you are referring to?It just dripped on to the condensate line.
  23. Someone called me into the living room today with the news that there was a home inspector in court being sued on television. Turns out it was one of those numerous court room TV shows. This one was Judge Alex, and this one a woman and her husband were suing the home inspector for $4500, the price of a new roof. In his inspection report he took pictures of defective flashing around the chimney and one of the vent stacks. However he did not report that a substantial portion of the ceiling would collapse anytime, as this is what happened when the husband went to paint the ceiling. The home inspector defended himself stating that portion of the attic was too dangerous for his inspector to reach. Since the inspector did report on possible water intrusion the judge ruled in his favor. Note the interesting part is he also stated that the inspector would only be liable for the price of the inspection in this case a $300 fee. This took place in North Carolina, is that the law of the state. If so I guess E%O insurance is now a thing of the past. Anyway just curious if anybody saw this show it was on Fox.
  24. Any chance it was for stashing valuables?
  25. Mike you are hailed far and wide behind no other as the king of facts,so any idea how many inspectors have ever lost their licensing.
