That's lap. I have all the Masonite from the late nineties but they won't help you.
-
Year? Panel or lap?
-
They'd help a great deal. Could you post them here or in the library, or email them to jim@benchmarkinspections.com ? Thanks, - Jim Katen, Oregon Sent

I have the 11/03 instructions if that would help.

Hardi kick out flashing- when did they start.
patt replied to Brandon Whitmore's topic in Exteriors Forum
Brandon I have either in hard copy or electronic most of the Hardi installation instruction for the last ten years or so. If and when you do any litigation work it pays to have a good library. The attached file for roofing "best practices" is the only file I have prior to 2005 that calls for a kick out, even the 2006 NRCA Roofing and Waterproofing Manualââ¬âFifth Edition describes the kick out flashing as optional. Hardi kick out flashing- when did they start.
patt replied to Brandon Whitmore's topic in Exteriors Forum
Brandon The earliest Hardi instructions I have that show the kick out detail, both plank and panel, are the 05 instructions with a print date of 09/05 and effective date of 12/05. The 04 instructions don't depict any kick out flashings. Download Attachment: Hardi 12-05.pdf 175.52 KB -
Jim, Do you write it up, or have you ever considered writing it up? Brandon Sorry to barge in to your question to Jim but I do litigation work so I'll always write it up.

Bill and Mike FYI California has been on the Uniform Plumbing Code for decades and printed with the code are the installation standards. Some of these years ago had to be adopted separately by the AHJ but under the current code the protection required all approved plastic piping is adopted statewide. 2007 California Plumbing Code Installation Standard ABS BUILDING DRAIN, WASTE, AND VENT PIPE AND FITTINGS IAPMO IS 5-2003 2.2.3 Exposed Piping Piping shall not be exposed to direct sunlight. Exception: Vent piping through roof. Plumbing vents through roof, exposed to sunlight, shall be protected by water base synthetic latex paints. Adequate support shall be provided where ABS piping is exposed to wind, snow, and ice loading. Installation Standard PVC BUILDING DRAIN, WASTE AND VENT PIPE AND FITTINGS IAPMO IS 9-2003 2.3.3 Exposed Piping Piping shall not be exposed to direct sunlight. Exception: Vent piping through roof. Plumbing vents through roof, exposed to sunlight, shall be protected by water base synthetic latex paints. Adequate support shall be provided where PVC piping is exposed to wind, snow and ice loading.

Ca. Mobile Seismic Bracing Requirements
patt replied to inspectorwill's topic in Foundation Systems Forum
The "foundation system" is approved by "HCD" (CA Dept. of Housing and Community Development" not HUD. See your other post about using the correct terminology, you really don't want to mix "foundation systems" and "Earthquake Resistant Bracing Systems (ERBS)". Do a Google search for "Maxi-Pier foundation system" and take a look at the stamp on the bottom pf the page. -
Manufactured Home Foundation Question
patt replied to inspectorwill's topic in Foundation Systems Forum
Just a note on terminology unless you know for sure that it is a "foundation system" you should just call it the "system support". A 1973 home, at the time of installation, would not have required any attachment to its support system. In CA you install the home to manufacturers' installation, plus since 1994 there has been a requirement for a "tie-down system". Tie-down systems are to prevent over turning and lateral movement caused by wind loads. The tie-down system used can be the typical auger and straps, the instructions for which are included with the manufacturers instructions for the set up of the home, or an engineered pier system which is what is most commonly seen. Additionally in CA you also have "Foundation systems" and "Earthquake Resistant Bracing Systems (ERBS)". Foundation systems are really just a combination of the manufacturers basic support requirements, and tie-down and seismic requirements. Foundation systems may consist of just an additional pier system or may utilize a perimeter concrete or cmu stem wall. If the home is placed on private land, not rented land, and a "foundation system" is used then the home can be considered as an "a fixture or improvement to the real property" in effect converting it from personal property to real property and qualifying for better financing. Attached is a drawing of one manufacturer's home attachment to a stem wall foundation, from either outside or underneath you would not be able to see the connection. Perfectly proper to mount the meter bases on a manufactured home, pedestals are mainly seen in MH parks. Brandon I didnââ¬â¢t look close enough the first time, good chance at least one of them is UF but the other one with the paper or other fill that appears to exiting from the sheath, that one I have doubts about.

That’s not UF.

Many manufacturers of both manufactured and modular home use products similar to the one depicted in the photos. Note the widths available and that these rolls can be ordered doubled enable the manufacturer to underlay the roof in one operation. Image Insert: 145.51 KB Image Insert: 327.64 KB
