Goodhome
Does anyone see a problem with this installation? A garburator has been installed under a single sink. Is it or is it not more prone to clogging? Am I being too picky? Click to Enlarge 33.35 KB
Jim Katen
Does anyone see a problem with this installation? A garburator has been installed under a single sink. Is it or is it not more prone to clogging? Am I being too picky? Why would it be more prone to clogging? (Is there a power cord to it? Without power it will definitely be more prone to clogging.) Terence McCann
I'd recommend turning the sink 90° CCW. The sink and disposal will work much better this way (those wacky plumbers).
Tom Raymond
Are hammer arrestors common on PEX systems, or would you guess that the rest of the house is just plumbed as sloppy as that sink?
Erby
Not anymore prone there than anywhere else. What makes you think it'll clog more under one sink than under one of two sinks? -
Goodhome
Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it. I don't usually see a single sink with a garburator. Also, I have also been told by a few plumbers that they don't recommend them as people often put the wrong things down there like stringy veggies, rice and starchy foods like potatoes which can cause clogging. With only one sink, and a clog then it can be a hassle. I see a lot of homes with hammer arrestors common on PEX systems. Thanks again guys... ghentjr
Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it. With only one sink, and a clog then it can be a hassle. Even with two sinks. Usually both would be piped and trapped to the same drain. I have a single sink with disposal for over 30 years. No clogs. Just replace the disposal every ten years or so.
