dtontarski
I saw my first Ack-O-Matic boiler yesterday. I don't see a lot of boilers, and most of them are not this old. Replacement is planned, so I didn't spend a lot of time evaluating it, but that device on the top of the boiler looks sure looks like a PRV to me. If not, what might it be? Thanks. Jim Katen
There's a boiler called "Ack-O-Matic"? What genius thought up that one?

That's a relief valve. Hope there's another one on the boiler without a plug. There's a boiler called "Ack-O-Matic"? What genius thought up that one? That would be Howard Ackerman, who manufactured the Ack-O-Matic and Ackerman boilers in the '50s and '60s. Wouldn't you name your product the Kat-O-Matic? dtontarski
Thanks for reviewing this. I saw no other relief valve and called this out. Click to Enlarge 9.52 KB
