Inspectorjoe
This is is new construction, but the house was sitting essentially completed when I inspected the one next door last October. There is a hairline crack that runs the length of the porch slab, directly above the stem wall. Is this a problem? kurt
Probably uncompacted fill under the concrete; the part over the stem wall is supported, the rest of it isn't. It's a problem, sort of, but it can't be fixed without busting it all out and starting over.
Inspectorjoe
Thanks for the reply, Kurt. I figured that was the cause. I was wondering if it was likely to get progressively worse, and eventually need replacement.
