Jack Ahern
It makes sense to me---but!! Are laundry trays required by any code?? for a second/third floor installation? Or, over any finished room? Any tray that is connected to a floor drain or any tiled floor that has a functioning drain . I see them on new houses and some expensive remodels. Any Code references?? A zoid told me "its not to code" and a Town plumbing inspector told me it is? Thanks in advance.[:-banghea
Scottpat
I don't know of any code that requires them. It's a dang good idea, but they are not required.
hausdok
Hi, The only reference to a laundry tray in the IRC pertains to allowing a laundry tray to be connected to a washing machine standpipe. I can't find any other reference to it, so I don't think they're required. OT - OF!!! M.
Neal Lewis
The floor drain or tray will be an indirect drain, not connected to the house DWV.
Bill Kibbel
Hey Jack, If your referring to a "clothes washer pan", I think it's required by the UPC, but not IRC. (It was proposed and shot down again for the '06/'07 cycle) Local codes might require it.
