belvedere
As I'm getting ready to start my business, one of the last things to do is purchase liability insurance. I would greatly appreciate advice on this; ie: how much insurance to carry, any good/bad insurance companies that you've had dealings with, etc. I don't plan to purchase E&O insurance. Thanks in advance!
resqman
I recently purchased General Liability insurance through Erie for about $210 a year. 1 million in coverage. If you bump the china cabinet and stuff falls and breaks your covered. If the wind blows down your ladder and it lands on the clients car, your covered. If you forget to look at the foundation and it is broken, you are screwed.
randynavarro
I have a liability policy along with my E&O. If I had to buy a separate policy, I'd probably go with USAA.
Scottpat
I have E&O and GL. I have an umbrella GL policy with Shelter and E&O along with second GL with Business Risk Partners (BRP). FYI, BRP now offers a discount if you have passed the National Home Inspectors Exam (NHIE).
belvedere
Thanks for the replies. Does anyone carry a separate liability policy (no e&o)? I got a quote from a local guy for $500/yr for general liability. A little higher than I expected, but maybe it's because I'm just starting out. John Dirks Jr
I pay $500 a year for general liability with 1m limit. I got it through my local Allstate Homeowners Agent although the policy is not held by Allstate.
Phillip
Check with the folks that you have your car and house insurance with. I get mine for $138.00 a year. ALFA
Scottpat
I pay right at $155 for GL with Shelter. I have been with them for about 18 years and actually my rate went down about 3 years ago. 1M GL.
