Robert Jones
This home is about 89 yrs old. This "insulation" was installed into the rafter bays. To me, it seems like a cellulose of some sort. It was in squares. Anyone? Click to Enlarge 50.51 KB
kurt
I've seen similar where it was asbestos. Is it fibrous?
Marc
It looks like plain old XPS (expanded polystyrene) foam to me. Somebody became creative. Marc

kurt
I've seen that stuff too. The pics Robert put up look like stuff I've seen that's a combination fiberglass and asbestos, compressed into a block. Regardless, I'd be telling the customer to have it checked for asbestos.
