  1. The date on the orange heating and gas permit was 1999. But to be honest, it looked altered. The unit looks more like 79-89 than 99. See new pic. Thanks. Click to Enlarge 37.81 KB
  2. Installed is a Lennox electric furnace. After reading the HVAC cheat sheet, the date is not obvious to me. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Click to Enlarge 39.9 KB Click to Enlarge 42.52 KB
  3. Bill, Thanks for the reply. They are wood shingles, I didn't realize I had typed in shake. I better go amend that before Mike or Jim notice it;) The only time I have really seen anything like that here, was on a detached type building. Just goes to show that this is a never ending learning experience.
  4. Today's inspection had a home that had the south facing side of the roof replaced approx 7 yrs ago with a comp shingle but, the north facing side was not touched(left with wood shingles). I don't remember ever having seen this. The home owner stated a roofer did the work. Would it just be a cheap home owner? Click to Enlarge 52.81 KB Click to Enlarge 76.89 KB
  5. From the look of the sheathing, it looks like it could be over heating. But then again I remember reading on this board about corrosion from stored chemicals. Was this located in a laundry room or what may have been a laundry room at one time? Any chemicals stored in the immediate area?
  6. This is one of the first things you see during your morning inspection. Click to Enlarge 97.82 KB
  7. Makes sense. Thanks everyone for the responses.
  8. Morning guys, They were definitely threaded rods. "Flexible", might be a abd choice of words, but they weren't really secured to anything. The basement was just recently finished. Thanks,
  9. I came across these 4 metal rods today. The home was built in 2002 with the basement just recently finished. The rods go from the slab floor through the installed drywall(ceiling). They are flexible. Thanks, Click to Enlarge 21.16 KB Click to Enlarge 24.56 KB
  10. I hope this hasn't been covered a bunch of times and I apologize for the slight drift. Is there a walk through extension that can be used with a little giant?
  11. Hey Mike, For Tappan, is it not the last 3? In this case would be April 2001.
  12. An easy way to tell if the lap is second generation, is to feel the drip edge, if it is flat across, it is first gen, if it bevels up toward the back, it is second gen. I rarely run into the panels that have been properly rolled on the bottom drip edges.
  13. If the home was built in 2000, it would be second generation LP. Did they roll the drip edges of the panels?
  14. Morning guys. The home did not have a jacuzzi tub, the tub in the main and master bath were normal size. Mike there was nothing out of the ordinary around the flue, hood or exterior stack. Terry the flue is almost resting on top of the pipe and that is tape/insulation to separate the 2 materials. Thanks everyone for your responses.
  15. Sure sounds like fiberglass to me. Loose fill is fairly limited to cellulose, fiberglass and mineral wool.
  16. Actually no cut through the flue for passage of the water line, just a nice elbow. Surprising that didn't happen. With the exception of the missing tpr extension, missing seizmic strapping, missing firebox cover, poor run of the flue, the install was ok;) Why they didn't just install where the previous tank was located is beyond me.
  17. It appears that the older water heater was installed in this location previously. Should this section be blocked/capped? It is being shared with the furnace. Click to Enlarge 46.18 KB
  18. Thanks Jim. I am guessing no easy repair other than applying sealant to the damaged areas?
  19. Would damage like this be caused by poor nailing? Settlement? Combo of both? Home was built in 2003, Hardi Lap all the way around. Damage is primarily on one side and consists of approx 6 boards. Click to Enlarge 35.56 KB Click to Enlarge 39.84 KB
  20. I was just thinking that a heat lamp/fan combo would be sufficient in lieu of the register. And 5 minutes is nothing, have you ever eaten an MRE?
  21. Was there a heat lamp above?
  22. Can you tell me more about the Digital Stationary? E-mail me privately if that is easier. Congrats on the site.
  23. How do we know if that word is spelled correctly then(moronity)? I am the one that responded. What was my "gibberish"? Should a response have not been offered to the ridiculous post that was made? Recommending that they have their home professionally inspected? Or is it just the fact I misspelled "gibberish"?
  24. Wow, is it possible to find out who actually wrote that crap?
