  1. I got mine in the mail this morning. Aside from not getting a local number (though they assure me that will happen soon) the thing is great - just like a normal phone. What I really like is the free calls home if I'm travelling, I'm going to get one for my in-laws in Europe so they can call here..... on second thought.... -Brad
  2. I played with a trial version of HomeGauge and liked it okay. I purchased Inspect Express and really like it. I guess it all boils down to what one is a good "fit" for you. -Brad
  3. hmmm - I just realized that they don't have Canadian area codes yet.... I need to pick a US area code until they can get the Canadian ones set up. where do I want to be from?........
  4. I ordered one of 'em today. Heck, it's worth the 40 bucks just to find out..... -Brad

  8. Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind. -- Albert Einstein -Brad
  9. Yep, Nature can be an incredible force. I got caught in a tornado in Salt Lake City in 1999 (for a few seconds I was sideways-holding onto a building guy). I saw some things that I still aren't sure were possible. -Brad
  10. Thanks to TIJ, and this thread in particular I knew exactly what this was before I bent down to get a closer look. Image Insert: 429.06 KB As an added bonus, the clients thought I was incredibly smart for knowing. Thanks guys!! -Brad
  11. Oddly enough I just stumbled across this website .... apparently bees like sunflowers. If you register with them, they will send you some seeds so you can grow sunflowers. I still like the hive idea though, there's just something about fresh honey. -Brad
  12. That, too, would probably be worth the price of admission. -B
  13. I missed the last Watts gig thanks to the magic exploding colon trick. If they do it again, no way in heck am I missing it. I'll even stop and pick up Les and Kurt since they're kinda on my way. Just listening to that conversation would be an education!! -B
  14. I've been following this thread faithfully but keeping quiet in an effort to conceal my own lack of intelligence. Since this thread started, I've taken a bunch of those online IQ tests - first out of curiosity, then out of vanity. With a little bit of variation, I've scored in the mid-high 130s which proves: you can't quantify intelligence! According to those results, I'm a fairly bright guy - but according to anyone who has ever spent any time with me, I'm half an idiot. I think I'll stick to judging one's intelligence by how they think-act-communicate. -Brad
  15. I do, however, see a lot of those flexi-trap things held on with hose clamps. Usually a pretty good indicator that there will be some "homeowner ingenuity" throughout the house. -Brad
  16. I really like it!!! And, since the water pump is there already, it could have an automatic watering system without too much more work. [] -Brad
  17. My mother-in-law is a saint.... I was talking about my Brother in law.... -B
  18. I'm with Gary on this one - that whole spoonful of sugar way of thinking. Heck, I almost died this past August... I'm only here now because of an emergency colostomy. You wouldn't believe the jokes that has led to!! I have a choice: I can either laugh or I can cry - laughing feels better. -Brad "if you think my colostomy bag is full of shit, you should meet my brother-in-law" Manor
  19. Thanks, Mike!!!!! Now I've got some bedtime reading material.[:-graduat -Brad
  20. Taken from the article: "We respond to every concern, but we haven’t found any problems in any of the homes in The Villages"........ Does that really mean that they're not there??? -Brad
  21. Jim said: That said, every American man ought to spend some quality time messing around with heavy equipment....... Indeed, there's something about diesel and hydraulics! I spent 5 years working at a shipping terminal operating 80,000 lb capacity lift trucks - I felt like a little kid!!! -Brad
  22. ( Brad, I'm just now recovering from viewing your photos) I'm still recovering too, Chad[] ....... due to the "time sensitive" nature of my renovation, aesthetics wan't much of a concern. -Brad "semicolon" Manor
  23. Might be the top of an old cistern used to store irrigation water for the grove. Just a guess. -Brad
  24. I remind myself to be grateful to live somewhere that crawls aren't terribly common, crawlies even less common. -Brad
