Do you know which model and how much?

Well put. It is possible to guide without steering or taking sides.

I'm pretty sure the Ridgid doesn't take pictures. Like Kurt, I feel that this is an important feature. I've been including pictures in my reports going back to 2001 with 3D. Not sure if the head of the See Snake is waterproof however this one is. One house I was doing had this funky setup for the Terra-Cotta drain pipes that accepted the downspouts. I was thinking to myself it would be nice to fish a camera in there a few feet to see what was going on.

X amount of these tests will be a return, billable, trip as I'm not about to punch holes in walls with out authorization. If they choose not to and find damage after the fact - so sorry. Would be a nice fit with an IR (next on the to-do list). Increase GP and limit liability too boot.

Picked this up today - Borescope - takes pics and video too Kurt.

I'm not sold on being around high voltage lines is a problem. There is a huge human workforce out there that deals with electrical systems (from maintenance to creation of) that you would think, seeing that there are more than enough worker bees out there, that it would have a really solid base for concern if it was warranted - much like tobacco. It's not like we are the first generation with a common supply of electricity. Actually, before this, I never gave it much thought. On a side note - any one see the Modern Marvels episode that did a documentary on the maintenance personal that go up in helicopters to work on the high voltage power lines? Their as nutty as Iron Workers (not meant as a disparaging remark). I'd be more worried about a large gust of wind. Wow, I must have gotten the last one. Mine shipped out and is scheduled for delivery by UPS tomorrow. Glad I got it when I did. Ha! You dog... Shame as it was a great price too. -
Are you saying that Jack should be on the Antiques Roadshow (as one of the featured items)? []

I love the look on the cats face Richard, kind of like "do I really have to do this?"

Had an interesting call from a client that has questions about EMF. Seems that the buyer of his home wants to have an EMF test due to the high tension lines (correct term?) close to his home. While I have heard of this type of testing I've never went out of my way to become better educated regarding the subject. In fact I live 500' or so away from them and besides the noise it creates on some of the HF bands they never really cross my mind. Is there any formal education that one can go through to become "certified" (if there is such a thing)? Any solid documentation out there regarding health issues or lack thereof? Any associations, like ASHI, that EMF testers can belong to? Thanks.

3D RecallChek Feature
Terence McCann replied to Terence McCann's topic in Report Writing and the Written Word
Actually I like Rapid Sketch but each to their own. -
Is the material in that picture the same color as your dirt down there Phillip? Our dirt up here is brown. Is the house on a slab? My condo is on a slab and, in the winter time, I have an ongoing battle with slab ants From the web site: Pavement ants will displace soil around concrete objects such as sidewalks, patios, driveways, curbs, etc. This displaced loose soil may be seen along the cracks or joints in the sidewalks or driveways. Our flippin' cat will drop a piece of food on the floor and it's just like ringing a dinner bell for the little buggers. They will bring up dirt from cracks in the driveway like that in the summertime.

They say how much Robert? I'm not in the need for 3rd party scheduling. -
The kind you read about in books. . .
Terence McCann replied to randynavarro's topic in Building Science
Ya, but you have to admit it's pretty f'in nice. I don't do many crawlspaces up here (thank God) but wouldn't mind if they all looked like that. I might even lose the mask and overalls. -

As I was downloading and updating 3D with the latest patch I noted the RecallChek feature that I hadn't noticed before. While filling out the report you can enter the manufacture, make, model & serial number of an appliance and 3D will connect to ScheduleCenter.com / RecallChek to automatically check for recalls. From 3D Help Desk: Access RecallCheck Preferences using Preferences > Preferences to enable export options to the third-party report RecallChek service powered by IMS (http://www.inspectionmanagementsystems.com) for The Scheduler Center customers. Please check with IMS for information about their services, to sign up, or obtain logon information. Internet access is required while reporting to access IMS server information appliance database. To add fields used by the RecallChek interface to your report: While inspecting an appliance or component, position your cursor in the report where you wish to insert fields for recording its information. Click Add/Copy in the report writer toolbar and choose "Add RecallChek Item". A window for entering appliance type, manufacturer, model, and serial number fields appears. Select appliance type and manufacturer from fields filled from the IMS server. Complete the model/serial numbers as applicable. Click OK when done. The 4 fields are added to the report writer inspection with the info entered. As long as the fields remain named exactly such and in that order, 3D will later recognize them as RecallChek info fields when submitting the info to IMS. To submit RecallCheck information to IMS: After adding any completing any necessary RecallChek fields in your report, click File > Submit RecallChek. Available job information from your linked Office Management job is automatically populates the fields. Verify or enter the information to be submitted as needed. Click Submit when ready to send your information to IMS. Once submitted, IMS and RecallChek handle all checking for recalls and generating return reports as needed. Check with them for information about their services. I haven't tried it out yet but thought it a news worthy post (plus a pretty neat feature).

That unit is for automotive R-134a use only. The operating manual is located here I just got off the phone with their tech support - 800 822 5561 (anyone can call). While a minor amount of oil might be removed it doesn't happen everytime and the recovery machine is NOT designed to remove the oil from the system. The oil that does come out would be in a light mist form. As stated before, vacuum pumps & recovery machines are not designed to remove compressor oil.
