  1. Without getting at all technical, I agree with Chad. That one breaker is feeding two circuits, even if it gets counted as one because of the breaker. I've always thought those breakers were a bad idea to start with. Keep it simple on the residential side. One breaker, one wire; period. Brian G. "Because We Can" Is Not a Good Reason [:-dunce]
  2. Originally posted by kurt There's so much more that everyone has in common than they imagine; we have more in common than we have in differences. Absolutely true, but don't we all just love our differences? I've always though New Englander's and Southern's had a lot in common. Rural backbone, funny accents, fiscally frugal-till-it-hurts, etc. What sort of folks think like that? Stuffed up-ti-ness isn't the exclusive domain of uptight Yank's. Mean, stupid people are everywhere. They'll seize on any excuse to do what they secretly ache to do all day every day, share their inner misery. Brian G. 5. The NEC doesn't regulate the number of circuits for a given panel rating (100 amp, 200 amp, etc.). The manufacturers' specs do. The label will show how many circuits the panel was designed and tested for, and there's no way to legitimately go beyond that. Up to this point, here's the concensus maximums as far as I know: 100 or 125 amps - 20 circuits 150 amps - 32 circuits 200 amps - 40 circuits 225 amps 42 circuits That includes all manner of tandem/half-size/you name it breakers. I saw the highlights. He was lucky that pass got in to the reciever. The guy was actually covered, but cornerback didn't know where the ball was. It was a nice drive by Greise, but I wouldn't count on him for the long run. He has a track record. He starts okay, gets better for a while, then fades back to permanent mediocrity. Why in the hell can't the Bears ever seem to get a top-notch guy at the QB position? The few times they've had that they did very well (Luckman, McMahon). Brian G. Spend the Money! [:-boggled

Pardon my absence. Business finally died after a long, strong summer, so I took a break from the entire inspecting universe. The phone is ringing again, so I'm back in the saddle. Needless to say, I'm more than pleased that my boys are finally turning the ship around. We have a lot of mediocre to lousy teams left on the schedule from here, so hope is still alive. I said they would go 12 - 4, so they just need to win out from here to prove me right and win the division. [] I'm also happy to note that the aforementioned rookie, Pierre Thomas, has two touchdowns in two winning games, with hardly any opportunities. He tore off a 24 yard TD run against Atlanta Sunday, and the coach says he'll be seeing the ball more. You Bears fans should recognize that name. He's a Chicago kid who played at Illinois the last three years (#4 on the all-time rushing list there). As for cricket fighting...I couldn't watch that. Too brutal. 13. My mother finally decided to enter the computer age, and she asked me to just get her whatever she needed. I found her a complete system, an off-lease Dell with a limited warranty, for not much more than the $400 this guy is talking about. 120 gig hard drive, 1 gig of ram, 2.4 Pentium chip, 17 inch LCD flat panel monitor, Windows XP Pro, CD/DVD player/burners, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc., etc.... I set it up for her last week; it looks and works like new. Why fool with pieces and parts for less than $100 difference? Brian G. Love That Ebay [:-thumbu]

  16. I haven't seen the highlights yet, but I saw the score of the Bears-Lions game...ouch. The post-Grossman era is off to a rocky start, but it looks like defense was more of a problem this week. Injuries can make any team worse in a hurry. Brian G. Is This a Crazy League or What? [:-boggled

And bad goes to worse... Power running back Duece McAllister is out for the year with a torn ACL, and one starting corner is down for 4 - 6 weeks with a broken forearm. I can't say anything good about that, but it will be interesting, and telling, to see how they respond to the compound adversity. Next Sunday is a bye week, so they have two full weeks to regroup. I'm hoping to see some of the #3 back, an undrafted rookie named Pierre Thomas. The kid made things happen every time he touched the ball in camp and pre-season. Scrappy, high-energy, and unintimidated...sent him in coach! Brian G. Spark Plugs Needed [:-thumbu]
  20. I'm just glad that sort of thing isn't an every day event, like many of the nasty jobs on that show. I would love to take them through the worst crawl space I've seen (that wasn't it), and the tightest attic. Someday Kurt will perfect the Monkey Cam and we'll put all of this unpleasantness behind us. [] Brian G. Come On Kurt, Git-R-Done Already [:-crazy]
  21. Fortunately that particular line was from the kitchen (sink & dishwasher only). It still stunk, but could have been much worse. [:-crazy] The frequent use created a pool of water about 6 feet across and a few inches deep at a low spot, which I had to crawl through to get the goods. [:-yuck] Brian G. 22. I've seen him start before. I wasn't impressed. I suppose there's a reason he's #2, but I'd be tempted to try Orton based on his record. The good news is, either one will probably be an improvement. Brian G. Lovie Can't BEAR to Watch Rex Any Longer [:-slaphap
  23. How do you know if cast iron is at the end of its life? Well if it's falling apart... Image Insert: 85.14 KB Actually I just wanted to try the photo upload. Mike Brown called Saturday to say he and Rose had discovered why a handful of us couldn't post photos (7 in all). It was because we had user names that ended with a period. Yep, that was all. A period anywhere inside the user name was no problem, but at the end it fouled up the server somehow. Don't you love computers? [:-boggled[] Thanks to Mike & Rose for figuring it out. Kudos! *SIGH* Better, but still miles from where we were last year. I don't get it, but it is what it is. At this point I'm reduced to hoping they turn it around in time to pull a winning season out of this mess. Life goes on. Brian G. Back to "Wait Till Next Year" Already? [:-indiffe
  25. Rex is at the edge of the cliff, about to tumble in Back-Up Valley. The Bears D isn't quite the same either, whether because of Rivera or something else. The way Green Bay is playing, da Bears will have to claw and scratch just to win the division again. A lot of good-teams-playing-bad bounced back with a win this week. Here's hoping that holds for one more day. [:-wiltel] Brian G. 0 - 3 Would Be a Deeeeep Pit [:-scared]
