AHI in AR
I've seen that before; I've always thought it was a deteriorating insect. More specifically a fungus growth or similar on said insect.
Jim Katen
That's a crawlspace anemone.
Brandon Whitmore
I'll concede that it is a growth from organic matter-- but what exactly? I'll post better pictures once someone gets it, or you all give up.

Richard Moore
That's a crawlspace anemone. Along the same lines my initial thought was a Nudibranch. Just how wet was that crawlspace? Click to Enlarge 44.6 KB
Bain
I see spiders fungified like that pretty regularly, but have no idea what the thing in Brandon's photo is. It must be something fun, or he wouldn't titilate us.
kurt
Maybe an albino baby urchin? Whatever it is, have it looked at by a qualified, certified, petrified mold inspector.
Brandon Whitmore
Just how wet was that crawlspace? Not what you'd expect. It was dry, well ventilated, nearly a walker so there's plenty of air volume, and only one opening in a foundation vent screen.
AHI in AR
OK...If it's not an insect, my guess is poo.

AHI in AR
So the answer is that it's a poo anemone, right?[]
John Kogel
It's poo with a visible aura. Some folks poo-poo reincarnation, while it's happening right under their feet. []
Brandon Whitmore
Poo'nemone-- makes it sound like an asian dish........ I'd never seen that kind of growth on rat doo before, but I don't usually inspect it this closely. As you can see in the picture, the vapor barrier was nearly covered in areas-- nasty. Some of the larger doo looked like it was from a raccoon.
