Brandon Whitmore
I don't run into too many houses that are clad in real stone veneer (6" thick), so I am curious what y'all think about these installation details. AHI in AR
I can't tell exactly what's going on with the flashing in the first pic, so I won't comment. The flat sill in the second one is dumb. Even dumber is the (apparent) lack of supporting steel over the garage door. Someone's gonna get a BAD headache at some point... kurt
How old is the house?
Brandon Whitmore
The house was built in 1999. There is no apparent support above the bay doors or windows. Is there any way they could have pinned them into place? I'm sure all that's holding the stone into place is mortar though. I'd hate to be standing under the stone if/ when it falls. The first picture is showing inset gutters. They must have installed the gutters first and then worked around them when they laid the stone. It'd be a bad deal if an end cap leaked, or gutters overflowed into the wall.
Garet
Is the flashing on top of the roof tile, or is the picture deceiving?
Brandon Whitmore
The step flashing is on top of the tile in this picture, and under the tile in other areas. I don't make an issue out of it either way if done well. Here's a good read:Tile Manual
