Marc Posted June 26, 2012 Report Posted June 26, 2012 What's going on in this picture? An electrical switch? Marc
Tom Raymond Posted June 26, 2012 Report Posted June 26, 2012 Keep looking, there's bound to be more stuff like that there...and a huge collection of vintage Popular Mechanics magazines. Now I gotta go build me one of those.
emalernee Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Looks like the shaft is made from a double headed form nail that had the one head cut off and pushed through the fulcrum on the inside and the outside covered with a Cap Nut and spring. A push on/push off switch is used, yep, has Popular Mechanics written all over it. The switch may date it to the late 50's or early 60's.
John Kogel Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 My stepdad could have built that, but it would have a little cuckoo bird that popped out when you push the knob. []
