elgato
Found this in a vacant home. It's "growing" on finished OSB in a basement ceiling. Right next to an obviously leaking HVAC joint. Clearly condensation from the cool HVAC supply has allowed something to grow on the OSB. I'm calling it " some type of growth ", but has anyone else seen this? and if so, what is it? algae? Jim Katen
Looks like some kind of fungus. Probably one of the ones that are commonly called mold.

Jim Baird
gato, I'd feel comfortable calling it a WDO. BTW, what is a "leaking HVAC joint"? The OSB looks positively saturated to my eye. I found a long narrow ceiling stain once that was due to a condensate drain that was fractured along its length in an attic space. Looked for all the world like it had been stepped on.
