Jerry Simon
They flicker when dimmed? Wrong type dimmer?
Steven Hockstein
My LED lights flicker a little when dimmed. It is because I have a system that is designed for incandescent lighting and I substituted dimmable LED bulbs. I don't find it to be a problem and my electric usage has dropped. Maybe there is a way to fix this but not worth the effort to me.
Mark P
It has to do with the dimmer switch. What brand LED bulb are you using?
ghentjr
It's the dimmer switch.
Steven Hockstein
I use dimmable Par 38 spots recessed bulbs from Costco (Feit Electric is the manufacturer). I have the type of light switches that look like traditional switches with the small slider alongside of the switch. I think they are Cooper Industry switches. Some Flickering when dimmed. Maybe the switches/sliders need to be cleaned?
David Meiland
Look at the bulb manufacturer's website and you can generally find a list of dimmers that will work with each bulb.
mjr6550
Yes, the dimmers need to be compatible with LEDs. I have tried two different LED bulbs with an old dimmer. One flickers and one does not.
Tom Raymond
There is a special dimmer for LEDs. There is an adjustment under the cover, dim the lights, then tune until the flicker stops. $30 at the Depot.
Mark P
Look at the bulb manufacturer's website and you can generally find a list of dimmers that will work with each bulb. I agree. I had a LED the made a buzzing sound. After some research I found the list of dimmers for that model of bulb. Not all LED dimmers work clitch free with all LED bulbs.
