  1. They sell the greeen coated pipe here at the hardware store (Ace). Not allowed to do that in Washington?
  2. Some electricians (1 that I know) will not install shared neutral circuits on single pole breakers for safety reasons.
  3. Uh Huh, once again they have learned how to defeat the laws of thermodynamics! I remember a similar newspaper story when I was in college. I showed it to my chemistry professor and got laughed at. I think that was the reason for my C in that class. As far as the Honda ad... well, if it was on Snopes.com, it must be true. Everything on the internet is true, isn't it?
  4. This is an interresting article from a link in "another" forum. Puts it in good perspective. http://www.forensic-applications.com/moulds/sok.html
  5. Usually I don't but saw this today and rolled out the fridge. Download Attachment: IMGP6874.JPG 99.36 KB No water damage but did find dead rat remains and droppings. [:-yuck] Download Attachment: IMGP687.JPG 90.88 KB
  6. In the last picture you can see that the protruding nails are rusted, another sign of improper venting. Also note the open junction box (I'm sure you did). I also would not claim it to be mold but I think I would recommend testing to cover my a$$.
  7. I don't buy it. Why would they spend all that money to make a commercial some geek could do on a computer for much less? If you believe that, I have a nice speech that Robin Williams wrote...
  8. I had a Realtor tell me today a client backed out of a sale because the HVAC guy told them that under AZ law, they cannot REPAIR a 10 seer unit! Does anybody know if this is true? I understand that you cannot replace a 10 SEER with a 10 SEER, but repair? Also, is there any way to determine the SEER rating? I was looking at Carrier website the other day and the model I looked up came in 10 or 12 SEER, seemed to be the same model #.
  9. Here you go, Jim http://www.helihobby.com/html/micro_video_camera.html
  10. I would have to agree with the seller, the cement asbestos are un-walkable with anybodys feet.
  11. How about " There is no sense in replacing 1/2 of the worn out, outdated equipment. Replace it now or replace it later"

    Lennox

Does anybody have a document that outlines the past problems with Lennox complete heat systems? All I can find on the web is anecdotal stuff on forums. Any help is appreciated.
  14. I have had great luck with www.logmein.com . Very easy to setup and best of all FREE.
  15. Jeeze Bill, that looks like a new house to me. We all know you don't inspect new houses. Or is that a historic house you inspected a hundred years ago when it was new? How many nails touched it after it went in? Not many from the photo.
  16. Some home inspector told them "relief valve drain line should have an elbow at the end". Forgot to tell them it should be metal and elbow down![:-banghea
  17. Bill, I think you are confusing it with Lead. Hold a torch to it.
  18. That is the clearest water I have ever seen. Is that an ex-greenhouse with an ex-pool? I almost missed the service lines over the pool.
  19. Offer to have it tested. Asbestos testing is a great money maker. I found a lab that will test for $7. I charge $65, lower than the enviornmental labs around here. I haven't seen that siding. If I had to guess, due to the age and texture you describe, I'd bet yes. Asbestos was the cats meow back then, they put it in everything.
  20. Mike, it must be a german thing. I also can't read my own writing, and it is getting worse with age. It is kind of funny watching homeowners try to sneak a look at my notepad. They think I know shorthand.
  21. Sounds like a "Central" oven system (the print on the casting was a clue). Were there more in other areas?
  22. What Rob said. Is that a damper control on the right of the door?
  23. Steven, try opening your photo with your photo editing software. Click "save as" and choose jpeg. Save it as a jpeg then upload it. It sounds like you are just re-naming it, not actually converting it to .jpeg. Are you using internet explorer?
  24. My personal favorite is the Climbtek in 12 and 16 foot. Great ladder and light!
