  1. This "chimney" is servicing a wood stove. Looks to be too short to me. Is that close enough to the ridge to use the 2 ft rule? Click to Enlarge 82.37 KB
  2. Hey Mike. I haven't gotten any calls from the "north" side in a while. I appreciate you including me on your list. I hope one day to be able to return the favor. Thanks for the input on the "beams" guys. BTW, the home was built in 1982 and the buyers thought they were "ugly".
  3. Is there a technical name for these beams or is it just beams? Click to Enlarge 55 KB
  4. And here we go! I take it you have some scientific studies that indicate exactly what types and amounts are dangerous Jim? We just had a big back and forth on a different forum on just this topic. Did you check it out?
  5. I have added another pic to show the nail heads at the ridge cap. It was like this all over the roof. The sealant was cracked and brittle.
  6. Have you read or heard any negative feedback on the material? One thing I noticed was that almost all the nail heads were in need of sealant and the foam ridge vent closure strips were everywhere(loose).
  7. Thanks Jim. Not a common product around here.
  8. This home was built in 1980 although I am fairly certain this roof covering has been added after that. It seems to be a fiberglass type material? Anyway, first time for me . Can anyone advise me as to the material type so I can research it a bit. Thanks. Click to Enlarge 79.84 KB Click to Enlarge 56.29 KB Click to Enlarge 72.08 KB Click to Enlarge 50 KB

  10. Must up state NY! Silly you guy you.
  11. As long as Mr Mouse doesn't have to clean the table and do the dishes afterwards, I am with you.
  12. Mike, I don't know that it does help. I haven't had anyone tell me that was the specific reason for choosing me. Whenever I send out(e-mail) the report, I ask my clients for feedback. Very rarely get it.
  13. Thanks for the most excellent link Brandon.
  14. I don't think I have seen a dimmer switch like that. Does that say "HOT"?
  15. It is slipping my my mind. What is the technical term for this "beam"? Click to Enlarge 36.56 KB
  16. Thanks Brandon. Have never heard that specific term before.
  17. Thanks guys. John there was zero cavity access in the home. The second floor used almost all of the space for making a livable room. The wiring has been completely updated, all grounded outlets etc... Bill, what is EER&O?
  18. This home has been remodeled and a new roof installed. The second floor is finished with vaulted ceilings. My question is, should there be some kind of venting at the ridge? There's no real cavity but, I am still thinking that some kind of venting should have been installed. The home was originally built in 1927. Opinions please. 19. Tim, You bring up a good point and one that didn't immediately cross my mind. I have attached a couple of other pics to show the actual stack.
  20. But, I don't think this stack has been cleaned in a while![:-bigeyes There was a wood stove and old oil furnace installed. Click to Enlarge 76.29 KB Click to Enlarge 121.96 KB Click to Enlarge 135.2 KB Click to Enlarge 110.11 KB

  22. When you see these bad boys entering and exiting through a hole in the siding. Same house both pics, not sure why the insect one turned blue. Download Attachment: IMGP4519 (Medium).JPG 67.12 KB Click to Enlarge 32.2 KB
  23. Anyone else think that this type of duct installation leads to air restriction? Almost all of the lower level ducts in the crawl space were installed like this. Out from the trunk and then back across the top of the trunk to the other side of the home. Click to Enlarge 64.82 KB
