  1. I'd guess it is the iron leaching out of the rock. I've never heard the term "meteorite bleeding" sounds like a good name for a band. "The Bleeding Meteorites" The plywood by the steps is water stained - from watering plants?
  2. Kinda Gloomy
  3. What was the rating of the main disconnect? If the panel was only rated for 150 amps and it was being used with 200 amp service, I would think it is a safety concern.
  4. You might consider sending that into the local media. Public education, safety and good PR for you.
  5. Good for you. Earlier this year I took a tour of the Hoover Dam and learned that during construction more people died of CO poisoning then from anything else. I found that very interesting.
  6. Thanks Mr K. I figured as much, just wanted to confirm as much. Happy Vet Day!
  7. Well being polite and friendly got me no where, but when I wrote "One rubber cap lasted me about 1.5 years. I’ll be sure to inform all the other inspectors and flashlight enthusiast of this." I have a new rubber boot on its way. So in the end they did come through. I'll probably find the spare that came with my light now.
  8. I am clear that in a residential application that in a sub-panel the ground wires and neutral wires must be separated and the neutrals must be isolated (“floatâ€
  9. The rubber boot that covers the switch on the end of the light has worn away from frequent use. After searching the internet with no luck I contacted the manufacturer in China and have been exchanging e-mails all week. I've learned the boots are not sold seperatly and the manufacturer will not sell or send me one. I guess there was an extra one in the box the light came in, but mine is lost. Just FYI - they make a great light, but their customer support is in the dark.
  10. Cool - Maybe I'll update my avitar to a smarter looking fellow. [:-graduat
  11. I'll take a guess... does it have something to do with the tub being all plastic so there is no path for the voltage to find its way to ground...? The more I think of it this does not make sense, but what the hell, its Monday.
  12. Thank You - Checks in the mail.
  13. Funny John & True. I guess if I had any intention of removing the thing I would have thought of a safe way to do it, but I just wanted to put it in the report - kinda cool.
  14. I don't know Marc. I just left it there and wrote it up. It was to close to the lug on the breaker for me to want to reach in a remove it.
  15. I opened this sub-panel yesterday and found a metal dog comb - really makes me wonder. Click to Enlarge 91.01 KB
  16. Thanks Folks. By the way, nice hat Kurt.
  17. I washed one of the batteries for my TK11 - I don't recommend this. The battery is a "Ultrafire - LC18650 - 2400mAh - 3.7v - LI-ion" Doing a web search for a "LC18650" I find different makers and different mAh. I'm thinking of buying a different maker and 2600mAh. Has anyone else used a battery other then the one the TK-11 came with. Any concerns going to a bigger mAh?
  18. I call your vermuclite picture and raise you double. So I almost never go to East St. Louis - but hey times are slow so I figured why not. Maybe the worst house I've ever seen, on the top 5 list for sure. The buyer forgot she had scheduled me... There was a guy there with demo tools tearing everything out and dust everywhere... Holes in the floor big enough to fall through... I drove home. Click to Enlarge 67.64 KB Click to Enlarge 60.22 KB Click to Enlarge 59.63 KB
  19. I'm lost - what are you guys talking about?
  20. So what brings you to The Inspector's Journal Cathy? What line of work are you in?
  21. Last night we had a serious storm system roll through town. Download Attachment: Damage.jpg 104.27 KB Now that was FUNNY
  22. Ask the realtor to ask the "Insulation Contractor" what the stuff in the picture is - and ask him to put it in writing and sign his name and reputation to it - like you did.
  23. AMEN!
  24. I coppied the below from http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/... thought it was interesting. Halloween's origin is ancient and astronomical. Since the fifth century BC, Halloween has been celebrated as a cross-quarter day, a day halfway between an equinox (equal day / equal night) and a solstice (minimum day / maximum night in the northern hemisphere). With a modern calendar, however, the real cross-quarter day will occur next week. Another cross-quarter day is Groundhog's Day. Halloween's modern celebration retains historic roots in dressing to scare away the spirits of the dead.
  25. Oh Shoot! Now I have to ask what a back-fed panel is? And is it a bad thing.
