  1. Oh, don't worry Mike - I'm just struggling over what camera to buy - trying to find as many opinions that I can. But if I learn anything I'll be sure to share.
  2. Thank you!
  3. Does any konw of a IR equivelant to TIJ? You know a website where IR guys go and hangout, ask, learn, etc.
  4. yea I wright it up all the time. Around here many of the AHJ don't even remove the panel cover.
  5. I'm getting push back from a builder regarding the neutrals and grounds being under the same lug. I just want to be sure I'm providing the correct source for this opinion that the neutrals need to be under their own seperate lugs. Is NEC, section 408.21 the correct reference? Thanks
  6. I've seen that question posted several times before and the answer has allways been "no known issues".
  7. Here is a picture of the other side of the parapet. It has coping stone on top. What do you recommend be done with the parapet? Remove the MB? Would you explain furter please what is wrong with it. I don't know what is under the MB. The rooms below have 15 foor ceilings with acoustic tile. There was no attic or access to see what was between the MB and ceiling. Click to Enlarge 84.85 KB?
  8. What does the brain recommend about blistering / bubbling of MB? I've read where some recommend slicing them open and re-sealing. I've also read that it is not a problem (assuming there is no active water intrusion) and leave them alone until the roof is replaced. I understand it can be caused for a number of reasons: moisture is getting underneath or it was applied over a wet spot. This is a commercial property. I found no evidence of leaks. Most of the bubbles were the size of the one in the 2nd picture. The one in the 3rd pic was the biggest by far. Click to Enlarge 48.85 KB Click to Enlarge 82.01 KB Click to Enlarge 64.87 KB
  9. I'd guess 76 too. What was the date of the furnace & a/c?
  10. I'm having no problems posting, but I don't post as much as most of you... Thanks. I think I understand - ecxept what is "BF Main"
  11. I understand that a sub-panel is not to be bonded and the grounds and neutral wires (in the sub) must be separated and the neutrals must be isolated (“floatâ€
  12. This is what I put in my reports. "The main electrical panel was manufactured by “Federal Pacific Electric –Stab Lok" the breakers are considered a latent safety hazard by many professionals because they can fail to trip in response to over-current, leading to electrical fires. I strongly recommend a qualified electrician replace this panel. There is an abundance of information on “FPE Stab-Lokâ€

  14. I've been doing radon for 3-4 years. I keep good records so this was easy for me to look up. I have tested 19 slab homes and found high levels in 4 of those 19. 6.4, 11.8, 15.3, 5.5.

    Too picky?

Seems there would be a concern with corrision going from galvanized to black iron to copper to galvanized. Is galvanized even an approved gas line anymore? I see it in old house, but never in new installs.
  16. What Manufacturer?
  17. I've used an extend-n-climb for 2-3 years and like it a lot. I use it mostly for getting into attics. I once used it in the rain and then left it in the van for a few days before getting it out again and it would not extend anymore. I called the company and they sent me a new one, no cost.
  18. New Construction. There is only about 1/8 inch of contact between the girder and shim. Click to Enlarge 49.11 KB This is the other end of the same girder Click to Enlarge 36.96 KB
  19. What is the name of this thingy. I believe it is a flame sensor. Condensate was dripping directly on top of it and wanted to use its proper name. Click to Enlarge 74.45 KB
  20. 90210 is beverly hills 12x25+50=$350.
  21. Thanks Tom, I'm just starting to do some homework on camera's. In the past I have played with the Flir B50 and liked it and am leaning toward this one; it runs around $6k. The Fluke TiR1 is a around $7k. Both have pretty good resolution. Here are some side by side comparisons of camera's. http://www.globaltestsupply.com/thermal ... 2godAVoiZg I'm slow in making this sort of decision and will do a lot of research before I make a decision.
  22. I've started looking for a camera and am surprised that fluke camer's have not changed in price in the past 2.5 years.
  23. What camera do you have?
  24. If the house was de-winterized or the water turned on, just for my inspection - I make sure it is back off when I leave.
