  1. I was impressed with them. My wife ordered them on Friday and we had them on Monday via UPS. They only charged $2.95 shipping at that!
  2. I just looked at the specs for the HP's we just bought and they say that the keyboard is 92% the size of a normal notebook. Now what is a normal notebook?[]
  3. Why not! I just picked up two HP Netbooks and they have more power than my laptop and one of our desktop computers. 1 Gig Ram and 160 Gig hard drive, 6 hour battery, mobile broadband (if I want to subscribe), etc. Although they are compact and full of power I would not use a Netbook as my main computer. My son calls it a Hello Kitty computer!
  4. I think I might have found what I need. http://www.buildingscience.com/document ... mendations
  5. It has been years since I have seen a builder installing plastic sheeting over the inteior stud walls of a home. Paper faced insulation has been installed with the paper facing the exterior. The home has OSB substrate that is covered with Tyvek and then brick veneer. Does anyone have a cite or site that would confirm that it is not good building practice to place plastic over the studs like this? Click to Enlarge 33.64 KB Click to Enlarge 32.96 KB
  6. Ditto, I have to swap them out after every inspection. I think the key is the 2500mAh, also not every picture is a flash.
  7. Right now I'm using Energizer 2500mAh in my camera and I can get an untold amount of pictures from a single charge. I think the ones I'm using now are a couple of years old. I go for cheap or whatever is on sale when I need to replace them
  8. Well, from what I understand they have deals like this every day. You just have to go to their site and see what the specials are for the day. Sorry you could not get one, hey want to buy one for $299? [:-party]
  9. The IT guy at my wife's office told us about this website http://www.onsale.com Her company buys from them. They have an HP netbook for $174.99! We just bought 2 of them. http://www.onsale.com/p/HP-Netbooks/pro ... dp.ffebhea It has a $125 mail in rebate. This same netbook is selling for $450 on other websites and at Best Buy. I think that this is a one day sale for today Friday the 13th!
  10. Those look like homemade manifolds. The PEX is not supported properly in Pic #2 & #3. What is in that corrugated line connected to the blue PEX in Pic #1?
  11. And this is a very good reason and example of why we should not give repair estimates!
  12. Many times (like in my home) the blower is not even present even though a switch is on the unit. I have also seen units with blowers that never had power run to them.
  13. In my area we can not connect any drain water lines including sumps to the sanitary sewer. They must discharge in your yard and the runoff must not flow to your neighbors yard/property. We can connect to the storm sewer or to the gutter at the street with a permit. They do have a caveat in the regulation; if the sump water contains anything else other than groundwater then it can with a special permit be connected to the sanitary sewer system, but this also requires that a grinder pump must be installed.
  14. I have never seen or heard of it either.
  15. I pretty much agree with everyone that has posted. Having worked for both plaintiffs and defendants on both sides on many cases involving home inspectors, all I can say is if it is not in print it was not inspected. Might sound kind of harsh but this is all that folks have to go by when they are reading your story about the home inspection. Sometimes what an inspector does not put in the report can be more damning than what is in print!
  16. I usually find more wrong with new construction than a preexisting home that has been lived in before.
  17. Looks like boric acid powder and frass of some type.
  18. It was Fypon..... I got with the owner and he put me in touch with the builder. First time I had ever seen this product. Squirrels sure do love it!
  19. They are home inspectors! If you get two in a room you will have a hearty discussion about the time of day. You have been working as an SME for EBPHI, you have seen first hand how inspectors act when they have an opinion.
  20. Is Rainer dormant or extinct?
  21. Knowing some of the details, this is a win win for pretty much everyone and that includes the students. This is also a multi-year joint venture so I don't think anyone will be bailing out anytime soon.
  22. Gnomes playing tricks!
  23. Bad tester or the line/load is reversed on the GFCI outlet.
  24. It is pretty much the same, but I do add items that the owner has found that they don't like. Most of the time this is more in the cosmetic area. I had one warranty inspection a few weeks ago and the owner wanted me to note that water was standing on the patio (it had been dry for a week or so) and roof runoff was etching a line across the driveway near the garage and he felt like the builder should have installed a rain gutter in that area. I ask my clients to go ahead and make a list of what they have found and I tell them that I will add their list to what I find. Most of the time I find everything on their list but every now and then they will have something that I did not see.
  25. This home was built in 1965, I was told that this was the original panel. The panel was not marked, but it kind of looked like an ITE brand design. It did not have a deadfront cover but the panel cover did have a locking mechanism. When you twisted the handle it released the top and bottom lock. It had a 300 amp main breaker at the very bottom of the panel.
