  1. Water seeks the lowest point. It is seeping down the side of that threshold plate. It hangs out for awhile, soaks in the brick molding, door jamb, etc and then it trickles down a little more and on and on. If folks would install doors like windows are installed we would have less problems.
  2. That is one of the problems (not really a problem, but just too much information) with a ShureTest tester. I use to report voltage drops, but I got so tired of electricians saying that they could not really do anyting about it because it was an issue with the utility company. Then everyone would look at me for an answer. I stopped looking voltage drops many years back.
  3. FYI...... Schneider Elec also bought Square-D a couple of years ago.
  4. Well heck, I guess dem fandangled new thangs ain't made it to da hills of Tennessee yet!
  5. I have seen somthing very similar in a dental lab. The bottom part collects gold, etc that gets washed down the drain.
  6. As others have said this is how that unit is suppose to work, it sounds like an unvented log unit might have been used. If they want a higher flame yellow (not as efficient) they need a vented log system. In the photo of the vent pipe in the attic: If that is not a metal spacer keeping the insulation from around the flue pipe, then the insulation needs to be moved away from it so you have a 1" clearance or more around it. Did you by chance get the brand and model number of the log set?
  7. Charlie speaks the truth! I can't tell you how many screwing items I found over 11+ years inspecting in MS! Now that I'm in TN, I kind of miss finding that stuff! Sniff, Sniff, Sniff......
  8. Back in April I had a meeting over in Ashville NC. It was at the Grove Park Inn which is like stepping back into the early 1900's. http://www.groveparkinn.com/gallery/Ext ... /13histinn It has a thatch looking roof that is made from clay tiles. Take a look at the above link
  9. I pay right at $155 for GL with Shelter. I have been with them for about 18 years and actually my rate went down about 3 years ago. 1M GL.
  10. Mike Holmes is our Bob Vila!
  11. Fiber is the trick! Every time you go to the doctor they tell you to eat "more fiber", I know it helps but..... I have been eating so much fiber that just last week I passed a wicker basket!
  12. Start 274 Jan 4 Today 270 Jan 9 Sad thing is that between Thanksgiving and Christmas I gained about 10lbs!
  13. P.T. Barnum aka Nicky
  14. I don't see any problem with it.
  15. It sounds like industrial or commercial grade PVC. This type of pipe often has threaded fittings and can have a rating for pressure. I have seen schedule 40 and 80 gray PVC, but never in a residence. It is way too expensive for builders to use.
  16. Arbitration is good for the side that wins! As Charlie has said, both sides pay the fees. The arbitrator is paid and gets paid not matter what happens, he/she is paid first. I just finished working with an attorney who's client had a really bad roof on their home. They had three arbitration meetings, each one cost $500. On the third meeting the arbitrator found in favor of the homeowner with the bad roof. This could have all been settled in the first meeting, but it was extended and extended at the request of the arbitrator. At the first meeting everyone had my report and photos showing that the shingles were laid directly on the OSB with no felt or moisture barrier of any type. Pretty darn simple, but apparently they needed me to come to the second meeting to verify what I found. This arbitrator was an attorney that just does arbitration's. Urrrrrrr, I just could not belive that they extended it to three meetings. IMO, it was simply to raise the amount of money the arbitrator received.
  17. Remember the "Tobacco" lawsuits back in the 90's? The attorneys involved (right at 70 of them) are all now multi-millionaires with a few billionaires in the mix. The former AG of MS, was the brainchild. The kicker is that he was still if office as the AG, but his former firm was the lead firm for the lawsuits. He is now back in private practice and is now one of those multi-millionaires.
  18. Whatever brand you install you need to make sure that it is designed to work with your system, most will. Go to the Apollo website and see if they have any specific requirements or call them.
  19. Well you have to admit we are consistent!
  20. Never heard of them and they did not pull up on Google. Have you tried to call them? Sometimes it takes a few nudges to get the dollars. Outside of that, if they are not responding, have gone out of business (like DDN) then you really can't do much.
  21. That would not be uncommon. In the pin mode the meters just detect the moisture at the location of the pins. So if the drywall has not become wet you end up with a good reading. The scan modes detect the moisture even before the drywall shows or becomes wet. The Tramex detects moisture in the wall cavity, I have had a Tramex detect up to 3" in depth!
  22. I highly recommend a nice glass of ice cold Citrus Nitrate over ice! Yep, you will drop a few pounds in short order, just be sure to hang around the house for a couple of hours after you drink it! [:-sick]

  25. I have never heard anything positive about it. On the other hand, I have heard plenty of negative.
