  1. Check out Milwaukee. The M12 has 160 x 120 res. A very good camera for a better price. I find the 12 v lithium ion battery to be plenty good and it recharges literally in minutes. Click to Enlarge 53.75 KB The logo tag on every pic is annoying but that is the world we live in today. We're walking billboards.
  2. Is it possible those planks were pried loose by the Forensic investigators? I think you should check around and see if neighbors have similar damage. Then you could all go after the perpetrators. Maybe Jim knows a good lawyer. []
  3. A helmet camera, no problem. Then you will need a 12-year-old kid that will work cheap to wear it and go fetch the info, while you sit in the shade and monitor his progress. [] Mike, your comment about flying the lee side of a ridge is right on.
  4. I wonder if the volume of return air is adequate? Probably not. It is kind of a floating floor design. I like the idea, anyway.
  5. I think, reading between the many lines, the AHJ has concerns for your electrical service and past wiring issues you may not be aware of. Load calculations are needed if there is a suspicion that the service is inadequate for all the appliances installed. Go ahead and fix the small stuff, then get the electrician in to check and approve the panel and service. An inspection by a licensed electrician is usually enough to satisfy the authority.
  6. It is only a worry if it is water-soaked or badly damaged somehow. If it is dry it will last a long time.I think your inspector should have given you more to go on, such as old damage from the build versus recent damage, manmade or animal, stuff like that.
  7. New house? Reno of an old house? Why does the new rule apply to you?
  8. Squirrells have been chewing on the particle board. I think your inspector forgot to add a sentence to your report. []
  9. http://www.arenaballphilippines.com.ph/about.html I was thinking you might be mistaking 'football' for soccer, but no mistake. Dwayne is a real cowboy. []
  10. Wiring on bare dirt, no, we don't do that here, not for long anyway. A big junction box installed on its back on the ground by an amateur. [:-party]
  11. Nice knobs, but where's yer tubes? []
  12. All my exterior pics are in a group as a rule, but the deck is an interruption as I circle around. So I might finish the siding if there are problems or items that I know will need report pics, then return to inspect and photograph the whole deck. Then all the roof. Then all the garage. I try to take a pic of each component in the garage report while there in the garage. Skip the pic of the E panel until I'm done the garage components, then get about 4 pics of the E panel, cover on and off. At the end of my roof pics, I like a pic of the garden shed and maybe the backyard. I like that eagle's eye view. So near the end, if I fell inclined I might toss that pic into the report, and I know where it is, end of the shingle pics. If I want the bath exhaust hose, it is in the end of the attic pics.
  13. That would work. Sort your pics to match the sequence in your report. Not what I'd do, tho. []
  14. Yes it is wrong and a safety issue, easily closed off. The fireplace can get air by the old way, from the front.
  15. It might just be a calibration issue. Calibration is something you should do if you are recording the readings and using multiple meters. Since I only do comparative readings, I don't think about calibrating very much at all. []
  16. That is my 'Professional' flat blade screwdriver in action. It came to me about 5 years ago by hitching a ride behind my daughter's car battery. Are you saying my screwdriver is somehow inadequate? Are you maybe just envious? Have you seen Erby's famous poker? [] I may have made things worse with my diligent poking. I'd better just stay away from there and delete the pics. [] Epoxy wouldn't save this OSB I'm afraid, but I couldn't resist poking it. Click to Enlarge 40.72 KB

  18. I thought a fresh thread would be Ok. This porch sits on two rotting Douglas Fir posts. The short post can be replaced easily. The other post extends from the concrete patio to the roof. My screwdriver sank about 4 inches into the side of the post near the bottom. The back side of the post seems to be solid still, so there is a patch of rot about 3" wide, 4" deep and 4" tall. How could someone use your product to repair this post? My client would want it fixed so that it can support the corner of the roof for another 10-15 years. I'm just curious if one of your products would make a viable repair. Click to Enlarge 63.07 KB Click to Enlarge 114.4 KB I suggested a handyman could cut a section off the bottom and splice a new piece in. Or a concrete pier would be better.
  19. I'm sure you can do better than this guy from this PM. [] Click to Enlarge 31.77 KB Click to Enlarge 34.32 KB We see ignorant stuff every day and maybe this is why some peoeple are not so free with the free advice. On the other hand, if someone wants to learn, the info is readily available, probably in a U-tube video.
  20. Hello Sarah. Since nobody has come on with an answer, I will try. The purpose of the wall is to slow the spread of fire thru the attic. I think you could use plywood or drywall, since drywall is less flammable than wood. The only limitation I can see is that the piece needs to fit up thru the attic hatch. It should be sealed so air can't easily blow thru the cracks. The hole was in all likelihood cut by a trades person for access, pulling wire or something like that. Check with your strata association before doing anything they may find to be in the common area.
  21. It looks like you found it on one of its good days. That sawhorse thing doesn't look very well preserved. They could call it the Rusty Spring Guest House and do a rockin business in the summer months. []
  22. I've said this before. There should be a fine or a jail term for installing a gas appliance with no regards for people's safety.
  23. Kind like the new kid that tucks his rain jacket into his pants. []
  24. The wall that wouldn't weep now is cryin' him a rivah, dude. []
