  1. http://www.csstsafety.com/Images/CSST-D ... lletin.pdf Either / or as stated in the second to last sentence of the third paragraph. The clamp has to be appropriate design for the specific attachment point (NEC 250.70), i.e. a hose clamp won't do.

  3. Water hammer arrester.
  4. True years ago but no longer. Years ago the lead acid battery cases were made of a hard rubber with a high carbon content. Cases were slightly porous and batteries would discharge to concrete. (Those who remember, batteries were not stored 'wet' - you had to fill with sulfuric acid and charge before use.) Todays batteries cases are polypropylene, which is a highly insulative material so the same problem no longer exists.
  5. Does this mean that it's ok to ground an AC condenser disconnect enclosure and air handler disconnect enclosure to the neutral but not the condenser unit itself or the air handler itself? Marc They mean alternating current not air conditioning. But you knew that didn't you?
  6. Interesting. How does the expansion tank being too small fit into this scenario?
  7. The only one I recall is the Spaniels who ended with "Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight."
  8. If i'm not mistaken, Mr. Carson is suggesting that the HIs level of activity never exceeds a category 0. The NFPA table relevant here is NFPA 70E Table 130.7© (15) (a) Hazard/Risk Category Classifications included here. Download Attachment: Table 130.7.pdf 33.69 KB Note that activity that includes measurement in say a live panelboard is a category 1 hazard. That page is from the 2009 edition. The 2012 edition clarifies some of the clothing and glove requirements (the PPE clothing chart is Table 130.7©(16). You can find the 2012 NFPA 70 E complete here: http://www.mcieast.marines.mil/Portals/ ... dition.pdf
  9. How long ago was that? Doesn't sound right to me. This is the first time it's been wet/moist since you bought the house. It's quite possible a critter chewed your wiring since you say it is in a crawl space. You need to determine if that is even possible (can they get in the crawl). Any number of other problems could exist to cause your situation. Do yourself a favor and hire an electrician.
  10. Maybe you just need a tutorial on how to search the web. https://www.google.com/search?source=ig ... Api8OPwwpY Hell they even have a you tube video for those of you still waiting for the movie to come out. Little sense in having tools if you don't know how to use them.
  11. Not sure what you mean, too many nonspecific its and thats. Chad is probably spot on. Just like when you approach an un-grounded outlet with one of those testers, it shows hot before you even touch the outlet. For a complete diagnosis you need a more specific test. Wiggy, voltmeter, etc. Different inductive testers (brands) have been known to give different results.
  12. You could of found that just as easily by licking your finger and touching it (might not even have to lick your finger, but it's more professional looking that way.)
  13. How about foam in place packaging?
  14. How about foam in place packaging?
  15. Why would you vent an underground fuel tank that is outside already into the basement? Two pipes through the wall is usually the other way around. Tank is already in the basement, one is fill other is vent. Quite obviously not the case although I have seen the pipes still in the wall after the tank was removed from the basement.
  16. MD requires the applicant to have a high school diploma. That's probably the case in most states; these days that doesn't guarantee you can read or write.
  17. I didn't do the edit but the answers to your questions are, yes, yes, yes. Too contentious? "Why is this posted in attics and insulation?" That wasn't contentious, This is! You guys are a bunch of pansies.
  18. Some of those shingles manufactured between 87 and 2005 were subject to a class action lawsuit for being defective (organic shingles only). Names included Hallmark Shangle, Independence Shangle, Horizon Shangle, Custom Sealdon, Custom Sealdon 30, Sealdon 20, Sealdon 25, Hearthstead, Solid Slab, Master Slab, Custom Saf-T-Lok, Saf-T-Lok, and Custom Lok 25. Not all of the shingles marketed under those names were Certainteed Organic.
  19. For a 110v circuit to show this result you have a hot/neutral reversed and an open ground. It may seem implausible since an open ground by itself gets only one yellow light but that is what got the result when i switched wires on an outlet to test. A 110 outlet wired for 240v also gets that result. Best course is to have a fallback tester, ie - multimeter or wiggy and check your results.
  20. Not big on reptiles myself. Personal prejudice aside though; how is this different than say a 5/8" garden hose? couple of different size hoses to bring it up to your vacuum wand and your in business.
  21. Don't really see any changes here. A. A home inspector shall visually inspect the plumbing system including: (5) Fuel storage and fuel distribution systems; They already tell you to inspect the distribution system. B. A home inspector shall describe the plumbing system including: Now they just want to make sure you describe (in writing) the fuel distribution system (if it's a garden hose, say so). Finally they want you to recommend bonding be checked by a licensed electrician. Already did all that so what's the big deal? No Marc there is no specific language being dictated, you just have to include certain information worded any way you like as long as it is readily understandable.
  22. Earl Scheib is no good, there are no wheels to paint. Seriously, if you can pull it away from the house (just easier), sand blast then prime and paint. If by advanced rust you mean perforations after you remove all the rust then it must be replaced. You can't paint rust!
  23. Copper nickel alloy if I remember correctly. Tanks last forever but other parts are no longer made.
