John Dirks Jr
New construction. The switch cannot be reached from standing in the shower. It looks like an exterior rated fixture. I thought fixtures over showers had to be sealed under a lens. What are the requirements for fixtures over showers? Are there code references to prove this installation is wrong? That's what caught me. You'll see the shower rated fixtures without covers at the link in my second post.
Steven Hockstein
My experience is that the electrical inspectors will defer to UL approvals and the manufacturers' published specifications and installation instructions. Sometimes they will ask the builder to provide the back-up documentation to verify and to put into the municipal file.
Jim Katen
The NEC only requires that the fixture be marked for a damp locations or, if it's subject to shower spray, wet locations. There's no NEC requirement for a cover. Never was.
