Ben H
Ever seen one of these? Install date was 1987. Looks like an old heat pump Water heater. Didn't know they went back that far. Prototype model perhaps? Click to Enlarge 74.18 KB
Trent Tarter
Wow that's a sweet find, is it an early heat pump model.
Ben H
Looks to be. I was hoping one of you find gents could say you've seen one before. The story I got was the owner used to be some suit for a plumbing supply house. Might me some classified stuff from back in the day!

Chad Fabry
In my area, extracting heat from conditioned space to heat domestic water is dumb 8 months a year. Super cool vintage HW set-up though.

Tom Raymond
Why are all the valves closed?
Ben H
Dunno. I didn't touch it. The house had hot water though. Bypass for the HP feature perhaps. I was at the end of a 6 hour inspection that was not going well by the time I got to it. Seeing a nearly 30 yr old water heater was enough.
