  1. Since this thread I made it a point to learn more on this subject. Looking back on the photo's I can only say Yesh!
  2. Last night ABC affiliate WLS did a report on the lack of quality inspections by AHJ's in the Chicago area. They average up to 15 a day. Nick Gromiko the president of NACHI is quoted in part. To read the entire article click here.
  3. I wish they were not necessary.
  4. Never tried to leave a PDF here . Mike?
  5. Thanks for all the information Steve. You really are an expert .
  6. I know most of you guys make fun of these lengthy dis-claimers but dare one of you to show me a short two sentence contract. I do not think there is any doubt that everyone in this room has at the very minumum a full page contract full of disclaimers. It might be funny to say I am not a psychic, "but I do not need to be a mind reader to know a contract not filled with dis-claimers will be chewed up and spit out in court". These are the times we live in. You even need to click "I agree " every time you download a simple piece of software.
  7. Vents should remain open unless the space has been conditioned properly. Other wise you are begging for mold.
  8. By following NACHI... SOP I am following State of Illinois ..SOP and going beyond what the state requires, however if in a court of law I must state I follow Illinois standards as the appropriate answer.

    NFL 2007

It may be Saints and Packers. Watch out as old man Farve has still got it.
  10. How long will this sealant last? Sounds like a cheap fix rather than a real solution.
  11. Flashing where it meets the wall trim was the first thing I noticed, not looking right also.
  12. It sounds like you are saying they did not plan for the veneer originally, and added a steel ledge. In this case , should they not still have added a moisture barrier and weep holes. You would still need them to get rid of exess build up assuming they did not fill the cavity with dropped morter.
  13. It can still be coming out with a low output but have been blown out by a air current. Is it possible to build up to where it could cause an explosion? Doubtful yes. Impossible no. Remember pilots blow out all the time with gas still pouring out. For the most part this kind of stove is in an older less air tight home, so much can dissipate , but is a big three letter word however.
  14. Thank you for the link Fritz. I have spent the entire day recreating one of my sites, but will be looking over the program as I am going to be doing my own diagrams in the near future.
  15. It is the same with many washer dryer combos. Not worth writing up. The only emergency where you need to shut it down quick, would more than likely be a hose leak in which case you would need to move the stove anyway. (let me add to blow out pilots on older stoves first.)I learned the hard way.
  16. Fritz, you already got most of the negative. Perhaps some more implicatons of the defects would help. The positive for me was the presentation and look of the report. I really liked the diagram of the roof as an aid to the client . 34 pages was about right. Would like to see better navigation to sections though it was good once there . I always ask which software did you use , or is it a word program.? I give it a B
  17. Just to test what I have learned so far. Better to have a 100 amp main in a panel rated 200 amp, then the other way around. Though it is common to have 20 slots on that hundred , the only way to know for sure would be to do a load calculation. Red flag may be raised , but if you are not sure a regular electrician should check it out. As we all know the totals of breaker amp ratings regularly exceed the main breaker , due to the fact they are not all being used at the same time. Now I step back for my chew down.
  18. Not something I would mess with.
  19. Thanks speaking for everyone else and myself for the links and info. As for me I am on a mission to comprehend.
  20. I would have run it through liquid tite. Good stuff, which gets used this way a lot. For any one who does not know it is a non metallic flex conduit. I have used it more than a few times. How far was the condenser from the shutoff anyway?
  21. I will need to absorb some of this and go back to it on google in a few days before I can go" a ha "I get it, but I do understand the triangle as the delta . Generator has rotation with three hits .These are 120 degrees apart since a circle is 360. Equal distance is a must for the phases to work in unison. If I get "a ha" I will post here again with my caveman comments.
  22. Ha.. bet they did all that rather than replace a tpr valve.
  23. sorry I missed the shootout but would like to state that I have an 92 led flashlight that I use exclusively as the lumen output is fantastic.I know many led's have a problem with distance but do last a long time with a halve life of around five years or so. Yes I have done some research on them in the past as I was looking to use them as a Neon light substitute. I used to produce Neon signs back in the eighties. Back to subject another advantage led's have over a traditional bulb flashlight is that there is no dead area of shadow. If you shine a traditional flashlight against a wall you will notice a shadow in dead center caused by the bulbs filliment. Led's also have an advantage in creating a better color contrast which helps during inspection. So do not give up on leds just yet as there are some good ones out there.
