  1. Exactly.I had to change a gas valve for a state water heater the other day,Bought a gas valve for a Richmond from menards.Exactly the same part.
  2. Ive seen people build platforms to elevate washing washings in that situation.
  3. Jim P, you are an electrician. Exposed NM, like hanging from a garbage disposer, is a code violation, no? AC is ok clamped to the wall, correct? Romex/nm needs to be physically protected,Not exposed around here. Run the ac into a metal 4sq box where it comes out of the wall with an outlet,Then run an appliance cord from disposal to it. Of course if that existing mess was code when built its a little tough to make them change it now,Other than maybe clamping it to back of cabinet.
  4. The next time you see a normal-size range installed with a 30-amp breaker, check the kw rating on the range nameplate. I suspect that the breaker (and maybe the wires) will be undersized. Most ranges need 40-amp circuits. Many of them, with warming zones, warming drawers, and convection fans draw well above 40 amps and should be on 50-amp circuits. As for your theory, if the microwave were tapped off the range feed, why didn't it die when the breaker tripped? Electric ranges are the minority here but I will def. check the nameplate for the kw rating. As for my theory it's a quandary and therein lies my confusion. We don't see many built in ovens around these parts, normally the plain old slide in ovens normally. Those are the ones Im referring to.
  5. How about some pictures of the area?
  6. The stove should be on its own dedicated circuit,I normally run a 30a circuit for them unless its some special set up they want to install. The microwave should be on a 20a small appliance circuit, which is unaffected by the oven circuit. Unless of course somebody bootlegged power someplace between the panel and oven to get power for it.
  7. If it originates with 14 Im ok with it as its pretty obvious to somebody working inside the panel as to what size the breaker needs to be. Its when they start with a larger wire and down size it in a junction box someplace down line that worries me.
  8. Its just more common to see 15a lighting circuits,Were there no 14g wires inside the panel?
  9. I don't like it either, but theres nothing against it in the NEC that Ive ever seen either. Whats to keep somebody from coming along and seeing the #12 wire in the future and bumping it up to a 20a breaker?
  10. "Plumber"? I assume you mean the guy that owns a torch and a way to get to the big box store to buy the stuff so the valve can be installed wrong. Probably the same guy that did this: Click to Enlarge 44.29 KB Washer waste pipe Click to Enlarge 26.81 KB Discharge from the water conditioning equipment Yeah,The world is full of them.
  11. You mean the drain being on wrong end of valve?Yeah some people shouldn't be allowed to play with tools.

Most older C.I boilers can be set up either way,Theres still a few steam boilers around Omaha I get called out on. I did a bunch of updating on an ancient sears roebuck/Hercules hot water boiler last month to atleast bring it up into the 1990s as I told the owner. It was cheaper than dealing with having an asbestos abatement co do their thing to allow a new boiler to be installed.
  13. Ive seen plenty of b-vent ran on the outside of houses over the years, never seen a city inspector tag it.
  14. Do you have a picture of the radiator?
  15. If it its a heating only system try tying the red and white wires from stat together and see if it keeps running,If that works try replacing the thermostat 1st.
  16. Theyre drop outs alright!
  17. Where do you guys get youre electrical inspectors, council bluffs iowa or Arkansas?[]
  18. Probably a stuck contactor inside condensing unit.

  22. Not that Ive ever seen[:-bigeyes
  23. At 110lbs I would think theyd be going through lots of pop off valves on water heaters and fluid masters in the toilets, not to mention single handle sink and shower valves turning themselves on![:-bigeyes
