John Dirks Jr
On the drywall, should I avoid the light weight stuff? Also, question on paint finish. What's the best finish for bathrooms in your opinion? Semi gloss, satin? Should we use an exterior grade for better moisture control? I'm not real fond of the glaring that comes with semi gloss. Can a good satin hold back the moisture and be cleanable too?
David Meiland
We just started hanging some CertainTeed "Easi-lite" board, and I don't think there's any difference, aside from the weight, which is modestly less. Eggshell is a good sheen, it's cleanable but you can also touch it up without repainting the entire wall. Use a couple of coats of vapor barrier primer if you're concerned about diffusion, but I'd make the bath fan my primary defense.
